We did this because Jason Aldean's mega hit, "Try That In A Small Town" is a rallying cry for lynch mob terror & a fascist civil war. The song celebrates the "good ol' boys", urging them to beat down and kill people who protest police murder or burn the American flag in protest of US crimes.
Setting the American flag ablaze, Leo from the Revolution Club Chicago exclaimed "I burn this fucking rag because this country stands for slavery, genocide and war...! Look at the police brutality and murder of Black & Brown people here! And what the US military does around the world! That's why we burn this piece of shit rag...!"
Days later, we Revcoms “tried it” in a small Tennessee town where Aldean's lynch mob anthem video was filmed – at the courthouse where an 18-year-old Black youth was hung after being lynched by a white mob of "good ol' boys" in 1927.
We did this as part of putting revolution on the map in 2023. We made it clear that masses of people need to get with the revolutionary leader Bob Avakian & need to get organized NOW to defeat these fascists as part of getting rid of the whole capitalist-imperialist system which spawned them, a system which has white supremacy and male domination built into it, and right now is pushing humanity towards climate catastrophe and World War 3.
These actions created a shit storm of controversy with screaming headlines in media across the country and throughout the world.
This bold revolutionary act of resistance reached millions here & around the world. Some people loved it. And among the MAGA fascists there is hatred & vengeance. The IL Rifle Association awarded Jason Aldean a lifetime membership. No part of the ruling class wants to see revolution on the map in this rare time of deep divisions & looming civil war. We call on all the decent people, have the heart to fight for what's really right!
In light of this action & all the media attention we received it is not surprising that white supremacist fascists have been & continue to make threats to the Revolution Club Chicago & its organizing center. It is also true that a lot of police are also hardcore MAGA. The revolutionaries are fighting for a real revolution to uproot all oppression – to emancipate all of humanity.
