In late January, on what would've been the 50th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the 1973 Supreme Court decision that established the constitutional right to abortion, Fran Luck and Sunsara Taylor spoke at Revolution Books in New York City.
There is much to learn from their discussion, including with the live audience. We invite our readers to watch the video which has just become available here:
Fran Luck & Sunsara Taylor discuss Abortion, Revolution & Women's Liberation on the 50th Anniversary of Roe v. Wade
From their different perspectives, they explored how the Supreme Court's decision to overturn abortion rights last year was a concentration of a Christian-fascist drive to force women back into an even more openly subordinate role. They dug into questions of reform and revolution, the relationship between capitalism and patriarchy, identity politics, the "woke" erasure of women, and urgent need for unleashing the fury of women against the growing assault on their lives.
Fran Luck is a long-time radical feminist and the host/producer of Joy Of Resistance Multicultural Feminist Radio on WBAI, 99.5 FM in New York City.
Sunsara Taylor is the co-host of The RNL—Revolution, Nothing Less!—Show at youtube.com/therevcoms; a follower of the revolutionary leader Bob Avakian; and a co-initiator of RiseUp4AbortionRights.org.
