Letter from a Prisoner on Fetuses and Blockheads

Editors’ note: We at revcom.us periodically publish letters from prisoners on revolutionary theory and struggle, as well as other aspects of human experience and thought, including conditions and struggle within the prisons themselves. We sometimes edit these letters. We appreciate and learn from all correspondence from the prisons. The opinions in the letters we publish are those of the writers and not necessarily those of revcom.us.

I totally agree: fetuses are not human, and have no rights, or so-called “interests.” That is a blockhead notion, and is ignorant, harmful, and a ridiculous fantasy. In fact, I’d even say that an unwanted fetus is a parasite that a woman is forced to sustain, whether she wants to or not. All because of some blockhead ideas of a fetus having rights.

And even if it were a person, so to speak, who the fuck can, in their right mind, take it upon themselves to force the woman to carry an unwanted pregnancy? Does a tapeworm have this same right to life? At the expense of, and against the wishes of, the woman?

Yeah, it’s pretty sickening, and it makes me angry. I’ve never had a high tolerance for blockheads, and yet we are surrounded by them. Especially out here where I am. I swear they’ve got a “dumbass factory” that mass-produces these blockheads, somewhere. I guess that “dumbass factory” is a metaphor for the mainstream cultures of this country. Proudly made in USA: The American Blockhead. Haha.

Anyway. Thanks for the literature. I’m trying to get others to read it, as well. Many are resistant. But some are excited to engage with it. People that I normally do not associate with, revolution is a middle ground to come together.
