We are thrilled to announce that we exceeded our year-end fundraising goal of $50,000, raising $54,613, in the campaign to get @BobAvakianOfficial reaching everywhere. 

Bob Avakian is a revolutionary leader and architect of the new communism. In a time full of extreme danger but also revolutionary urgency—and possibility—these funds are aiming to have a serious impact on society through online advertising and an on-the-ground movement reaching across the country.  

Thank you to everyone who donated and were part of raising funds. You are part of raising people's sights to the fact that there's a whole different way the world can be, shaking them awake, and introducing millions to the leadership humanity has in Bob Avakian. Whether you gave $5 or $1,000—you were part of acting together with others to be a part of something bigger than yourself... part of a real fight for the future. 

Last week, we talked some about the unprecedented leadership that Bob Avakian is providing through his social media platform. And we posed questions to you, our readers, about how to have the kind of major impact we need to have over these next weeks and months.

Listen to the series of @BobAvakianOfficial social media messages REVOLUTION #102-111 that have come out since the election of the fascist Donald Trump. Does anyone even come close to this? In this time of political cholera—where people who don't like all this fascism are confused and in paralysis—this is the medicine people need. Are we on a mission to bring it to them? Are we fighting with them to get this to others to combat the epidemic and eventually wipe it out? 

And are we being scientific? That means, among other things, being responsible to the larger effort by sharing your experience with those of us fighting to lead this crucial effort? We need you to write us! And if you’re not writing because you’re running into obstacles—that “rough spot,” if you share it and we work on it together, might just be the source of breakthrough.

As part of the $50,000 goal for funds, we set out a goal of 200 people giving $5. This was aimed at having brand new people donate at an entry level, and building up the broad base of this campaign. 

In a couple cities, when volunteers made the case—and had people listen on the spot to the social media messages from Bob Avakian (or even just looked through the titles), people gave. One person got 10 family members to give $5 over the holidays. Here's what they said about this:

I went to a holiday party of my large family. I asked everyone to give $5 to get Bob Avakian's messages out. Some of the older ones have heard me talk about Bob Avakian for years; the younger ones give because they respect me, but they also asked “what is communism?” I tell everyone that Bob Avakian starts from the beginning; he talks about slavery and genocide, and the oppression and exploitation of this system. He says we don't have to live this way. We are working for a world without exploitation and oppression. My nephew who is in jail—of course he has no money—is the most interested in Bob Avakian.  

To me the significance of asking for $5 is that most people have $5. And 20 people x $5 = $100. That's $100 we can put towards spreading BA's messages. Going to a lot of people is important because we have to talk to a lot of people and spread this further, quickly.

From what we can tell from what's been summed up so far, a few people taking this out got up to 100 new people to give $5. And a lot of people haven't yet reported back to us so we can't tell where we're at in this. So again, please write!

If you took this out and didn't succeed, what obstacles did you encounter? If you did raise funds, from whom and why did they give, and how do we work with them to reach out to others? Communism is above all a science, and part of being scientific means summing up how we've worked collectively to change the world. We are just two weeks out from the fascist Trump's inauguration as the commander-in-chief of the most powerful imperialist country in the world, a time of existential danger. 

As Bob Avakian says in @BobAvakianOfficial social media message REVOLUTION #104:

It is time to look seriously for solutions outside and beyond this system.

It is time for a revolution to overthrow and uproot this whole system and bring into being a fundamentally different and much better system.

This is the message and the challenge that needs to ring out.
