Donald Trump, in conjunction with Israel, has launched a murderous, illegitimate, and illegal war against the sovereign country of Iran—openly aimed at regime change. This is an unprovoked war of aggression, the supreme war crime  and it must be stopped now.

This war has nothing to do with “liberating the Iranian people.” That is a lie already soaked in blood. U.S. bombs have killed civilians, including dozens of young women and girls when a school was hit in the city of Minab. Trump himself has explicitly called for regime change.

This war is a gangster imperialist move by a fascist regime, seeking to tighten its grip over the Middle East and strengthen its position against rival imperialist powers. The lives of millions are being treated as expendable in a high-stakes struggle for global domination.

This U.S.–Israeli assault threatens the lives of Iran’s over 90 million people and dramatically heightens the danger of a much wider war—one that could draw in other imperialist powers and, through the deadly “logic” of escalation, lead toward an all-out nuclear catastrophe.

We cannot allow a fascist madman to keep his finger on the nuclear trigger for another day.

Let’s be clear: The repressive regime in Iran should not be supported. It is a reactionary, theocratic, and viciously patriarchal state that has brutally oppressed the Iranian people.

But fascists are not liberators. Trump—himself heading a patriarchal Christian fascist regime—does not care about the people of Iran or the Middle East. He is acting in what he perceives to be the interests of U.S. empire and fully expects domination if the U.S. prevails.

This war also serves another purpose: it provides Trump with a pretext to escalate repression at home, crush dissent, shred law, and consolidate even greater powers for his fascist regime. This is how fascism rules—through terror abroad, repression at home, and the demand that people fall in line or be crushed.

The silence and passivity with which such outrages are being met inside this country must END. Fascism does not advance only through brutality from above—it advances through normalization and accommodation below. Waiting, adjusting, or hoping that institutions—or those who tell us to “vote and wait”—will restrain this regime is a deadly illusion.

Fascism is not a looming threat. It is upon us now.

Humanity’s only hope lies in the decent people of this country rising together—nonviolently, but with determination and unshakeable resolve—to drive the Trump fascist regime from power.

NOW is the time to meet this grave escalation together in the streets in massive nonviolent protest and resistance.
