The U.S.-backed Israeli genocide in Gaza preceded the fascist Trump regime. The repression against anti-genocide protests in the U.S. and the suppression of pro-Palestinian voices preceded the fascist Trump regime. The entire ruling class of the U.S. has fully supported Israel in carrying out its genocidal slaughter of Palestinians because, as the revolutionary leader Bob Avakian wrote in October 2023, "Israel plays a 'special role' as a heavily armed bastion of support for U.S. imperialism in a strategically important part of the world (the 'Middle East'). And Israel has been a key force in the commission of atrocities which have helped to maintain the oppressive rule of U.S. imperialism in many other parts of the world."
The death and ash and fire and blood and smoke and tears and horror upon horror have been a waking nightmare. One that we see on our phones every day.
A nightmare being carried out by the American government, in our names... a nightmare before the eyes of the world... a nightmare that we are responsible to ACT TO STOP!
And all this has taken an extreme leap with the fascist Trump regime in power. The protests demanding an end to the U.S.-Israeli Genocidal Slaughter of the Palestinian people must also take a leap. And while the fight to defeat the fascist Trump regime and the fight against the U.S.-Israeli genocide are not identical, they do need to overlap—each getting strength and determination from the other.
In his calls for the U.S. to take over Gaza, in his sick celebration of the ethnic cleansing of Gaza, in his lobbying other countries to take in Palestinians: Trump has given the green light to Netan-Nazi's all-out open relentless genocide.
At the same time, Trump is moving to shut down all protest against this genocide. The regime is using the lie that any protest against Israel is anti-Semitic (being against all Jewish people). With this as a battering ram, the fascists are trying to smash academia entirely, and they are kidnapping students and revoking visas. The attacks on students and academia are bound up with the whole fascist program of turning universities into fascist indoctrination centers, shutting down all dissent, debate and critical thinking. But it is also inseparable from the attempt to completely beat down what we saw last spring: thousands and thousands of students putting themselves on the line to call out the crimes of their own government and institutions in the genocide of the Palestinian people.
Mahmoud Khalil kidnapped and still held in a prison cell. Rümeysa Öztürk kidnapped for writing an op-ed against the genocide. Mohsen Mahdawi... and many, many more.

To all those who stood up bravely last spring against the complicity of their universities in this genocide... to all those who have continued to stand up and demand this nightmare STOP at serious personal risk... to those who continue to lose sleep because of this horror, but who don't know what to do: you are needed now, back into the streets, back into the fight against this genocide. And doing so while making links to the fight to unite all who can be united to defeat this American fascism. Lest the space for this protest be no more.
Don't just agonize over the images of burnt children and hang your head in helplessness. Don't turn away from the videos of starving people. Don't let your rage turn to bitterness, turn to hopelessness, and then passivity. And don't stand aside out of personal fear.
Let your anger drive you to go deeper to understand what we are facing—why this is happening, what it's part of, and what it will take to stop it. And act together with others on this understanding—having each other's backs, with collective self-sacrificing courage. Join in principled debate and discussion about the source of all this—and the fundamental solution to the needless suffering being visited on the people of Gaza, the people in the U.S. and the people all over the world—learning from each other while we stand shoulder to shoulder.
If you don't act while the horrors multiply, if you don't speak out and demand this STOP, you are complicit.

Listen to the challenge from environmental and social justice activist Greta Thunberg as she boarded a boat as part of the Freedom Flotilla Coalition aimed at breaking the siege on Gaza:
We are doing this because no matter what odds we are against, we have to keep trying. Because the moment we stop trying is when we lose our humanity. And no matter how dangerous this mission is, it is nowhere near as dangerous as the silence of the entire world in the face of a live-streamed genocide.
In the face of heightened horror and repression, nonviolent but massive and unrelenting protests need to grow broader, deeper and more determined.
The evidence of this U.S.-Israeli genocide is undeniable. It has been put before the eyes of the world. Israel itself is increasingly delegitimized. Even hardcore Zionists like the former Prime Minister of Israel, Ehud Olmert, have called what Israel is doing in Gaza "a war of extermination: indiscriminate, unrestrained, brutal, and criminal killing of civilians..." Netan-Nazi openly said that some of the most hardcore supporters in the U.S. have a hard time backing Israel when there is an Israeli-enforced famine unfolding before the eyes of the world.

In this situation, think of what can be broken open, think of how the initiative can be seized back—if people in this country acted with masses in the streets demanding: The U.S.-Israeli Genocide Against the Palestinian People Must Stop NOW! And again, if that is linked to the demand: The Trump Fascist Regime Must Go NOW!
Without making it a dividing line in the fight to defeat fascism, all these links do need to be drawn. The determined outrage against the genocide strengthening the urgency to defeat fascism, and vice versa.
Think back to the splits and fractures caused within the system's institutions themselves in the face of the genocide—with people in high ranks of the military and state department openly quitting in protest. And now think about the potential splits and fractures within this system's institutions caused by the rapid and dangerous moves of the Trump/MAGA fascists.
In speaking to the kind of massive societal wide struggle needed to defeat Trump/MAGA fascism, Bob Avakian spoke to the orientation we need to have, and how our actions now can change everything:
This massive mobilization could have a major impact on the dominant institutions of the country, with the possibility of creating conditions that could cause major shifts and “realignments” among them. This is one way in which the Trump fascist regime could be removed from power. But, one way or the other, this regime must go—and non-violent but determined, sustained and growing mass mobilization needs to be built, as the bedrock force to bring about this crucial and urgent objective, as soon as possible, before it really is too late.
Stop the U.S.-Israeli Genocide Against the Palestinian People!
In The Name of Humanity, We Refuse To Accept A Fascist America!
The Trump Fascist Regime Must Go—NOW!
