The videos show massive crowds of desperately hungry Palestinians squeezed between metal fences, struggling to get small boxes of food, and then get out. The sound of machine gun fire and stun grenades fills the air. Clouds of pepper spray are plainly visible. 

Bullets fly in all directions—into the air, into the ground, and toward the Palestinians. Suddenly one of the U.S. security contractors yells “Whoo! Whoo!” Another responds, “I think you hit one.” Then the shout “Hell, yeah, boy!”

“We have come here to get food for our families. We have nothing,” a Palestinian told one of the contractors. “Why does the (Israeli) army shoot at us? Why do you shoot at us?”

This was a not-unusual scene at one of the U.S.-funded Gaza “Humanitarian” Foundation (GHF) aid distribution sites in Gaza. On June 27, the Israeli newspaper Haaretz revealed that Israeli forces had been deliberately massacring Palestinians coming to and leaving these sites, even if they posed no threat. Over 600 aid seekers have been killed so far. 

All the while, GHF has insisted it had no part in these killings and that no one had been harmed at its sites.¹This is a lie.

A July 2 exposé by the Associated Press, based on videos and testimony from two U.S. security contractors turned whistleblowers, has revealed the private U.S. security personnel have also been firing on starving Palestinians trying to get food or to leave the sites. Armed with pistols, automatic rifles, and even machine guns, these U.S. mercenaries have been using live ammunition, stun grenades and pepper spray against starving Palestinians in Gaza.

It is not clear whether anyone has been killed at the GHF sites, but a contractor told the AP, “There are innocent people being hurt. Badly. Needlessly.”

Among AP’s other revelations:

• U.S. personnel regularly tossed stun grenades and pepper spray at Gazans as a form of “crowd control.”
• The GHF staff monitor those coming to seek food and document anyone considered “suspicious,” then pass the information along to the Israeli military— potentially signing their death sentence.
• “There are innocent people being hurt. Badly. Needlessly,” the contractor said.

The U.S. security subcontractor—“Safe Reach Solutions”—claimed no one had ever been hurt. This too was exposed as a lie. Leaked internal communications revealed contractors used 37 stun grenades, 27 rubber-and-smoke "scat shell" projectiles and 60 cans of pepper spray in one—one!—June incident. Those seeking aid were injured in nearly a third of the food distributions over a two-week period. 

Three of the four GHF sites were set up in southern Gaza in order to force Palestinians to relocate to the south so Israel can confine them in a small strip of land near the Egyptian border—another step toward all-out ethnic cleansing and genocide. The GHF’s creation is also an effort to discredit the UN and move toward full Israeli control of all of Gaza. 

Last week, 170 charities and aid groups issued a joint statement calling for an end to the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, citing its “blatant disregard for international humanitarian law.” And a new Amnesty International report found that Israel was systematically inflicting starvation and disease on Palestinians by manipulating humanitarian relief efforts, and that the GHF was “serving as a tool to deepen the humanitarian catastrophe and sustain the ongoing genocide.”²

Trump’s GHF—with its racist, sadistic gunslingers—is further proof of how this fascist regime is directly helping to carry out—right on the ground—what UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese calls “one of the cruelest genocides in modern history.” 

The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation: Trump Escalates Gaza Genocide 

The fascist Trump regime has not just continued, but radically ratcheted up, Joe Biden’s genocidal assault on Palestinians in Gaza to even more murderous and existentially dangerous levels.³ Biden cut off funding UNWRA—the well-respected United Nation War Relief Organization. Trump replaced it with the Gaza “Humanitarian” Foundation, created a few months ago by a Trump-supporting Christian fascist preacher. The U.S. State Department allocated $30 million to fund it. 

Biden and the Democrats verbally attacked those protesting the genocide and supported repressing the students. (See: "Kamala Harris Is and Can Only Be an Enabler of Israel’s Genocide Against the Palestinian People") Trump hunts down, kidnaps, and imprisons and/or tries to exile Palestinian or other foreign students who protested, even if in the form of an op-ed in a school newspaper. 

To those millions taking to the streets in protest over the vile, vicious and fascist ways Trump has been remaking U.S. society and attacking whole groups of people, this crime too deserves your condemnation and active protest.

And to the millions in this country who already agonize about the enormity and unspeakable cruelty of the ongoing genocide in Gaza—recognize the escalation of this under the fascist Trump, come back into the streets, and join this cause to the demand that the Trump Fascist Regime Must Go NOW!

There is the very profound question posed by a doctor who volunteered to work in Gaza—striving, amidst tremendous destruction and suffering, to provide medical care to the mercilessly bombarded Palestinians there, overwhelmingly civilians and huge numbers of children. Speaking to the fact that both the Democratic and Republican parties have supported Israel’s genocidal assault on the Palestinian people, this doctor sharply raised: What does it mean that there is no major political party in the U.S. for whom genocide is a “no go”? All decent people should think deeply about the truth and the profound implications of that!
