Fascism in the U.S.: Now Is the Time for Righteous Fury and Revolutionary Determination. Defeat Fascism Decisively and Put an End to the Whole System
… Bob Avakian expresses the real truth about the unprecedented situation now facing the United States and the world, when he says that the Trump 2025 regime is not just another administration coming to power. This is fascism. It is an enormous danger to people there in the U.S., here in Mexico, and around the world. There is no such thing as making peace with this fascism as something supposedly legitimately emerging from elections there in the U.S. There is only such a thing as defeating it. And that’s precisely what the revolutionary communists there, organized in THE REVCOM CORPS For The Emancipation Of Humanity, are fighting to do. They are fighting to mobilize millions to defeat fascism by uniting and mobilizing everyone who can be united to achieve this.
They are also fighting to overthrow, through an actual revolution, the outdated and oppressive system that gave rise to fascism, and thus build a system and a possible world which is a thousand times better. They deserve our full support. It is urgent to forge revolutionary unity among the people there in the U.S., here in Mexico, and around the world, against fascism, against the capitalist-imperialist system that gave rise to this fascism, and in favor of a real liberating revolution.
Because as Bob Avakian has emphasized in his penetrating analyses, in today’s world we face a choice between two possible futures: Something Terrible, OR Something Truly Emancipating. Some voices were saying that a second administration of Trump and his fascist Republican Party wouldn’t be so bad; that he’s just got a big mouth. Reality itself is proving us wrong. This fascism is recharged, now also with control of the Supreme Court and both houses of Congress and a whole plan, “Project 2025,” to impose fascism. Since the first day of his term, he has signed more than 100 executive orders to launch his fascist, misogynistic, racist, imperialist, immigrant-hating, and LGBT-hating agenda. A program driven by scientific madness and Christian fundamentalism. They deny the existence of global warming and are unleashing unbridled oil exploitation and environmental plunder, with disastrous consequences for humanity and all other species on Earth. They want to seize the Panama Canal, Greenland, and Gaza—with genocide and ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians. By promoting open imperialist expansionism, Trump proclaims, “I was saved by God to make America great again.” And he is determined to do whatever it takes to maintain U.S. imperialist hegemony over their imperialist rivals in China and Russia—further increasing the danger of a third nuclear world war with terrible consequences.
From day one, Trump declared a supposed national emergency to mobilize both the army and the National Guard to hunt down and terrorize migrants. He seeks to revoke the citizenship of the children of undocumented immigrants born in the United States. He is opening new concentration camps on the southern border, and even at the U.S. military base in Guantánamo, Cuba. He is pressuring the Mexican government and Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, who, despite her false nationalist rhetoric, yields to his demands by sending troops to the northern Mexican border to do the dirty work of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)—repressing, imprisoning, and deporting every day more of our migrant sisters and brothers from neighboring and distant countries. Sheinbaum already began her six-year presidential term with the Mexican army’s massacre of six migrants in Chiapas and two more in Chihuahua, but now imperialism is demanding more.
Faced with all this, the Revcoms, that is, the revolutionary communists, in the United States proclaim, “In the Name of Humanity, We Refuse to Accept a Fascist America.” They don’t say “in the name of the United States.” They don’t even say “in the name of the people of the United States.” Rather they say this with a firm internationalist position: This is “In the Name of Humanity.”
As Bob Avakian emphasizes in his 2025 New Year message, which we have available here for all who may want to get it: It is no longer time to accept this Trump/MAGA fascism as legitimate and remain within the confines of the way things work under this system, as the leaders of the Democratic Party and other traditional representatives of the ruling class are urging people to do. And we add on behalf of the Revolution Movement and the Revolutionary Communist Organization, Mexico, that we must also not accept the collaboration of the Mexican government, which has said it will collaborate, and which is in fact collaborating, with the fascist Trump administration.
For those who argue that you have to work with Trump because he won the elections, let us point out that Hitler also rose to power through elections. Would it have been right to collaborate with the Nazis then? NO. No election can legitimize fascism. Avakian goes on to say, “It is not a time for turning inward and attempting to ‘take care of self’ as the juggernaut of Trump/MAGA fascism gains momentum and crushes masses of people. This is a time for reaching out to all the others who feel the same outrage at Trump/MAGA fascism—a time for collective action and self-sacrificing struggle for the greater good: the greater good of defeating this fascism.” [from social media message Revolution #111] It is time for righteous revolutionary fury and determination to defeat fascism and the whole system.
How can this fascism be defeated? By mobilizing tens of millions of people in the United States, united with people around the world, to stand up and create a political crisis so acute that Trump cannot govern and implement his fascist agenda. This is possible because millions of people in the U.S. hate Trump and fascism. Quite contrary to what the disinformation media would have us believe, Trump did not win the vast majority in the election. In reality, he only won by a mere 1.6% of the vote. The United States is a country divided into two countries: between those who support fascism, white supremacy, male supremacy, and other extremely reactionary craziness, on the one hand, and on the other, those who hate and want an end to this oppression, who number tens of millions of people. These are the people who came out en masse to protest the murder of George Floyd in 2020. These are the people who have come out to protest attacks on migrants and in defense of LGBT people, against executive orders, and so on. These protests are righteous and positive, but much more is needed. A determined movement is needed not only to protest but to defeat fascism. And the Revcoms, the revolutionary communists, are fighting precisely to mobilize millions of people in this struggle.
You can check out the pamphlets we have here. You can also buy them at booth 714 and get them online at revcom.us. Most of them are free of cost. This is where the diverse range of impactful actions that the Revcoms are doing together with others come in. Time only allows me to give you one example in this regard.
Before Trump’s inauguration, the Revcoms confronted the fascists who organize caravans to intimidate and harass migrants. When you’re a migrant in the United States, your only option to work is to stand outside a Home Depot. And when people are done buying their materials, they pick you up and take you to jobs. Well, these fascists went there to harass the day laborers, so THE REVCOM CORPS marched together, arm in arm, marching to stop them from harassing the day laborers and telling them, “We will not be made to back down in the face of this intimidation and harassment you’ve been experiencing.” Several of the customers who were going to buy stuff got out of their cars, grabbed the comrades’ arms, and marched with them to stop them from harassing the day laborers. The fascists gave up and had to leave. The day laborers celebrated this small victory and began talking with the Revcoms. They received flyers and the Revcom’s broadsheet. This is just one example, and you can check out much more of what’s happening in the United States on social media.
Avakian also emphasizes that this fascism was engendered by this system of capitalism-imperialism. And the fact that this system in the United States has taken on the extreme expression of bringing a fascist regime to power is a manifestation of the completely rotten and illegitimate nature of this system as a whole. This is a system that must be overthrown through revolution if there is to be a future for humanity. Therefore, the Revcoms proclaim that this whole system is rotten and illegitimate, in “We Need and We Demand: A Whole New Way of Living, a Fundamentally Different System.” And they are fighting to organize and forge thousands of revolutionaries armed with the understanding and analysis of the new communism that Bob Avakian has developed, to lead millions in revolution to defeat and dismantle the capitalist-imperialist system and bring into being a new way of living, a new socialist system.
The system of capitalism-imperialism that prevails throughout the world today is a horror even in its supposedly democratic form, which is nothing more than a disguised dictatorship of the capitalist ruling class. This is illustrated by the barbaric and bloody Israeli-U.S. genocide against the Palestinian people perpetrated under the administration of Joe Biden and the Democratic Party. Fascism, on the other hand, is the open dictatorship of aggressively oppressive and repressive capitalism-imperialism that seeks to crush all opposition or resistance with violence. It is the extreme expression of a malevolent and outdated system that oppresses people and destroys lives around the world. It is a system that cannot be reformed. It must be gotten rid of, and it can be gotten rid of through revolution. Yes, revolution even in the United States, in the belly of the beast, compañeros. You may ask: “How can you talk about revolution when the fascists have just taken power?” Because, as I mentioned, tens of millions in the U.S. hate fascism; they want to end so much oppression and madness, but it cannot be ended under this system. The only real way out for the people is to go outside the framework imposed by this system, and overthrow it. Only in this way is it possible to bring into being another system and a much better world. We are now living in a rare moment when revolution is more possible in the United States. This is also because the ruling class in the United States is locked in internal struggles, such as the fascist wing represented by the Republican Party, and the wing represented by the Democratic Party.
And as Bob Avakian analyzes, the reality is that the contradictions and conflicts within the U.S., and in the world overall, will continue to cause upheavals and eruptions—battering the stability of this system. And in the midst of this intensifying situation, a growing, conscious, dedicated, and determined revolutionary force of thousands could become tempered and strengthened on a scientific basis and build up the capacity to forge the means necessary to deal with and fight through difficult challenges in order to prepare the basis and lead millions of people for the emancipatory revolution that is necessary to end this madness and bring into being something much better.
To get deeper into the basis and possibility of an actual revolution in the most powerful imperialist country in the world, I recommend this pamphlet by the Revcoms, which provides the strategy and approach, “Revolution: Building Up the Basis to Go for the Whole Thing, With a Real Chance to Win, Strategic Orientation And Practical Approach.” You can get it here at the table, and we also have it at the booth. If you’d like to get it, it’s a comprehensive look at how to make revolution in the U.S. and the concrete approach.
Also of great importance are the works of Bob Avakian that we have mentioned and others that we have available, because Bob Avakian is a rare international revolutionary leader forged in the revolutionary struggles of the 1960s and 1970s, who has never stopped speaking the truth about this criminal system and fighting to overthrow it. That’s why he’s loved by people looking for a way out of all this madness. And on the other hand, it’s no surprise that he’s hated by people trying to keep people chained to the current system.
Bob Avakian is the author of the new communism—a new communism and a decisive qualitative advance in the science of revolution. He has not only forged a strategy to overthrow the current system, but he has outlined a roadmap for a new and very liberating socialist society embodied in the Constitution for the New Socialist Republic in North America—which we also have here. Although this Constitution is to apply specifically to the territory that is currently the United States, many aspects have universal relevance for a new, more revolutionary and liberating socialist society, learning from the great successes but also the serious errors of past socialist revolutions.
Another society, another radically different and much better world is possible. We don’t have to continue living like this, compañeros, with so many horrors and so much oppression, with threats to the very existence of humanity due to the environmental crisis and the threats of a nuclear war, with so many crimes against women, the ruthless hunting down of migrants, the hundreds of thousands of murders and disappearances in Mexico, and the millions of unnecessary deaths around the world due to wars and famines. Another society is possible. And it is urgently needed, compañeros and compañeras.
As Bob Avakian points out, at society’s current level of development,
“There is no good reason why anyone, anywhere in the world, should go hungry, or be without decent housing, health care, and other basic necessities—or live in constant fear of going without these necessities.
“No good reason for the endless wars and accelerating destruction of the environment, for which this system is fundamentally responsible.
“No good reason why the dominant culture and ways of thinking should serve to reinforce murderously oppressive relations, while drilling into people’s heads the ridiculous notion that there is no positive alternative to all this.
“No good reason why the long night continues in which human society has been divided into masters and slaves, and the masses of humanity have been lashed, beaten, raped, slaughtered, shackled and shrouded in ignorance and misery.
“There is no good reason for all this, but there is one basic reason: the fact that the world and the masses of humanity are still forced to exist under the domination of this system of capitalism-imperialism.
“This system is completely absurd—criminally, monstrously absurd—and completely outmoded: long past its expiration date, past the time when it can lead to anything positive for humanity—and, on the contrary, it stands as the direct barrier to the emancipation of humanity from all this madness, atrocity, and unnecessary suffering. The rise of fascism, in many other countries as well as in the U.S. itself, is a glaring sign of the thoroughly outmoded nature of this system and the heightened danger it poses to humanity as a whole.” [BA’s 2025 New Year message]
U.S. fascism seeks to impose its racist, sexist, imperialist, and anti-scientific religious madness program with blood and fire, not only in this country but throughout the world.
The Mexican government calls for supposed national unity, though by collaborating with fascism, as supposedly the most intelligent policy. NO. No, no collaboration with fascism. It is time to unite true friends against true enemies. It is time to unite the people of all countries, not with their governments and the ruling classes that represent and administer this outdated system, but against the capitalist-imperialist system and its representatives, and against the fascism that this system has brought forth. Therefore, we take up the central slogan of the Revcoms, and their work with our sisters and brothers on the other side of the line of history and in unity with our comrades.
And I ask you to repeat this slogan after me: “In the Name of Humanity.” I can’t hear you, compañeros. “In the Name of Humanity.” [Audience: In the Name of Humanity.] “We Refuse to Accept a Fascist America.” [Audience: We Refuse to Accept a Fascist America.] “This Whole System Is Rotten and Illegitimate.” [Audience: This Whole System Is Rotten and Illegitimate.] “We Need and We Demand.” [Audience: We Need and We Demand.] “A Whole New Way of Living.” [Audience: A Whole New Way of Living.] “And a Fundamentally Different System.” [Audience: And a Fundamentally Different System.]
Thank you very much, compañeros.
