The lives of 2.1 million Palestinians in Gaza are hanging by a thread.
The ceasefire between Israel and Hamas is barely holding. Tense negotiations, involving Israel, the U.S., Hamas and several Arab countries, are at an impasse because Israel refuses to negotiate the withdrawal of its forces or an end to its military assault on Gaza. And this past week, the U.S. repeated Trump’s threat to destroy Hamas if it didn’t agree to U.S. terms for releasing its U.S. hostages.1
The fundamental cause of the differences and the ongoing nightmare in Gaza? The refusal by Israel and the U.S. to back off from their agenda of violently denying the Palestinian people their basic right to live as a people—which is now being carried out by blatant ethnic cleansing and genocide.
This is not hyperbole. This past week Israel’s Minister of Finance called for expelling “5,000 Palestinians a day” from Gaza in response, he said, to Trump’s call to empty Gaza of Palestinians.2
The liberal Zionist newspaper Haaretz reports, “The U.S. and Israel have reached out to officials of three East African governments to discuss using their territories as potential destinations for resettling Palestinians uprooted from the Gaza Strip under President Donald Trump's proposed postwar plan, American and Israeli officials say.”3
Now stop reading and think about this: Trump’s “plan” to violently uproot and exile Palestinians from Gaza was initially dismissed by many as “unrealistic.” But while it is lunatic and literally genocidal, Trump and Israel could literally attempt to do this! Further, Associated Press said that one of the countries asked was Sudan—which itself is in the middle of a genocidal civil war, with American allies feeding arms to both sides. It is hard to find words to describe the sheer criminality of such a system; and the only moral response can be to do everything possible to end such a system.
Israel’s War of Starvation… and Now Thirst
This is the 16th day of Israel’s murderous blockade. Israel is preventing urgently needed food, fuel, medicine, tents, mobile homes, and other life essentials from entering Gaza, violating the terms of the ceasefire it had agreed to.
This has caused already desperately hungry Palestinians to be pushed closer to the edge of starvation and famine. Six of Gaza’s 22 bakeries have shut down due to lack of cooking gas. Many people now have to wait in line for hours just to get a piece of bread.
“Any amount of aid that is prevented from Gaza is a death sentence,” an emergency room doctor told the New York Times.4
Israel imposed this total blockade on March 2. Then, on March 9, Israel’s energy minister further tightened the noose by cutting off electricity. Israel had already cut most of Gaza’s electricity, and Gazans were already suffering from a water shortage, but this made things even worse.

The blackout crippled Gaza’s only functioning desalination plant (a process that removes salt from water to make it drinkable), cutting the supply of clean water by 70 percent. People in Gaza now have almost no sources of drinking water. The UN reports that only 10 percent of Gazans can get water suitable for drinking, and many are being forced to drink salty or dirty water.
Now Israel’s energy minister has threatened he may cut off water next.5
“It’s true that the bombs have stopped falling, and most of the shooting has stopped,” Dr. Feroz Sidhwa summed up. “The Israelis are still killing about half a dozen people a day, but the bombing has, thank God, stopped for the most part. But everyone here is still homeless. Everyone here is still hungry. Everyone here is still thirsty… the Israelis have cut off all entry and exit to Gaza again. This is—you’ve got 1.8, 1.9, 2 million people locked in a cage, and they can’t access anything from the outside world. They can’t survive like this.”6

As we go to press, another major violation of the ceasefire took place on Saturday. At least nine people, including four journalists, were killed in an Israeli drone attack in northern Gaza. This is the largest number of people killed in one day since the ceasefire began. And the four journalists killed brings the number of journalists and media workers murdered by Israel since October 7, 2023 to at least 170.7
Israel’s “Genocidal Acts” to Prevent Palestinian Births
The horrors people in Gaza are experiencing now are part of a broader pattern.
A new report documents how Israel has systematically attacked women’s health and reproductive care in Gaza, in a depraved attempt to prevent Palestinian women from having children. The United Nations Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory found that Israel had systematically attempted to prevent Palestinian women from having children. Israel did so by attacking and destroying reproductive healthcare facilities in Gaza, including a fertility center, maternity wards, and a maternity hospital. It also attempted to prevent Palestinian women from having access to necessary medicines and equipment to ensure safe pregnancies, deliveries and neonatal care.

“Israeli authorities have destroyed in part the reproductive capacity of the Palestinians in Gaza as a group,” the report found, “including by imposing measures intended to prevent births, one of the categories of genocidal acts in the Rome Statute and the Genocide Convention.” Therefore, Israel has committed “genocidal acts” aimed at preventing Palestinian women from having babies.
One stark example: Israel’s December 2023 shelling of the Al-Basma IVF Center in Gaza City that destroyed some 4,000 embryos and other reproductive material from Palestinian patients for whom it often represented their last chance to have children.
The commission also found that Israel’s blockade of humanitarian aid and access to medical care, which begun in October 2023, had caused grave reproductive harm to women and girls, who suffered or died from pregnancy and childbirth complications.
The report also documented “wide-ranging abuses, including forced stripping and nudity, sexual harassment, rape or threats of it, and the sexual torture of detainees, which it said had become standard operating procedures for Israeli security forces toward Palestinians,” according to the New York Times. The frequency, prevalence and severity of this sexual and gender-based violence showed it has been “increasingly used as a method of war by Israel to destabilize, dominate, oppress and destroy the Palestinian people.”8
The Evidence of Israel’s and America’s Ongoing War Crimes and Crimes Against Humanity Is Overwhelming and Undeniable. What Will YOU Do?
Support for Israel and its assault on the Palestinian people is a core part of the Trump/MAGA fascist agenda, and now that they’re in power things have dramatically worsened and are poised to get far worse.
YOU need to join with others now, to stop Israel’s onslaughts against the Palestinian people, and to stop Trump fascism—before it’s too late.
Here’s why this is happening.
Here’s where to go to join the resistance.
And here's where to go to get to a world where such crimes are no longer possible.
