From a Prisoner:

“The Iranian Uprising has brought such high hopes to me…”

Editors’ note: We at revcom.us periodically publish letters we receive from prisoners on revolutionary theory and struggle, as well as other aspects of human experience and thought, including conditions and struggle within the prisons themselves. These include letters from people influenced by political trends that are different from the new communism brought forward by Bob Avakian. We appreciate and learn from all correspondence from the prisons. The opinions in the letters we publish are those of the writers and not necessarily those of revcom.us. We reserve the right to edit letters from prisoners and other readers published at revcom.us.

From a prisoner in Texas:

Initial thoughts on the Iranian Uprising:

The Iranian Uprising has brought such high hopes to me, my imagination runs wild on the thought that the Iranian people are waging struggle against its theocratic dictatorship. Just think of the implications, just imagine the flames of revolution ... overthrowing the long overdue theocratic fascist! Establishing a Peoples Communist Government in its Place.

Think of the international effects. What a sight it would be, the Imperialist beast brought to its knees, finding itself weaker as it's cut off from another one of its major oil suppliers. A Revolution in Iran will shake the whole world to such a drastic degree that hasn’t been felt, I dare say, since the Russian Revolution of 1917! Yes I made that comparison, since a Revolution in the middle east would leave the imperialist bloc dumbfounded, pushing the imperialists over the edge over where they will acquire their oil next, oil being like the blood stream of Imperialism, that and oppression. With the imperialists having to push themselves over their limits, they will either try to annihilate each other or collapse, under the pressure of a Peoples Revolution.

That is why we, the revolutionary masses, must not allow the fascists to consolidate power here in the United States. We must wage struggle alongside our Iranian comrades. To support our Iranian comrades is to support the World Revolution of human Emancipation!!

Another thing to learn from the Iranian Uprising, is that, the masses must not tolerate the lynching of people, and the masses must not tolerate the violation of human rights in the name of “theocracy” “religious beliefs.”

They lynched her for not wearing a hijab. They lynched her in the name of religion. Here in the United States, when a police officer murders time and time again predominantly black and brown people for the smallest infraction, the police are lynching that person because they took it upon themselves, without “due process,” to murder such person, for the smallest infraction of simply fleeing or “looking” like they were up to no good. Lynching is a violation of human rights which the People must struggle against arduously.

The masses of Iran are teaching the world that the People must not tolerate the violation of human rights because your religion demands it. Mahsa Amini was deprived of life in the name of religion. Millions of females are deprived of their basic human rights in the name of religion. In the United States women’s rights have been deprived in the form of denying females the right to the future of their bodies by outlawing of abortion, all in the name of religion. This, too, the masses must struggle against with fierce intensity lest we allow a theocratic dictatorship to be born here in America and oppress the masses even harsher than the capitalist oppression we currently live under.

This is not a war against religion. Do not mistake this to be a war against Christianity or Islam or Hinduism (etc.). This is a war against the violation, the deprivation of human rights.

If your religion is getting in the way of respecting human rights. If your religion is consequently geared up to violate or deprive humanity of basic rights. Then I suggest that you and your leaders rethink how y'all may be interpreting y'all's religion. Are you practicing a religion based on Peace, love and the universal brotherhood of humankind, or are you practicing a religion of hate, oppression and Death!

Practice what you preach, let actions speak louder than words, if in fact your so-called religious rights and action sit in direct contradiction to that of peace, love and universal human rights, then consequently the righteous masses will have to do you like your predecessors did those barbaric religions that practiced human sacrifice, cause in all true reality, y'all resembling each other, only now you are sacrificing the human body and spirit to the monster of capitalist-imperialism in the name of and disguised as your theocratic religions…
