Welcome to REVOLUTION, revcom.us, where you learn about what’s happening in the world, why it’s happening, how these events relate to the interests of humanity… and what it all means for making revolution and emancipating humanity.
“We can no longer afford to allow these imperialists to dominate the world and to determine the destiny of humanity. They need to be overthrown as quickly as possible.”
This past week has been another when it can be said without reservation, no truer words have ever been spoken.
Bob Avakian spoke these words in response to the war in Ukraine—which has galloped into a proxy conflict between two imperialist powers, the USA—world’s most powerful oppressive power, and imperialist Russia. This week saw the deadly dance between these two nuclear armed powers ratchet up with the future of humanity hanging in the balance. Go here to read critical analyses and to watch a provocative discussion between Lenny Wolff and Andy Zee.
These words of Bob Avakian echo in our hearts and minds as we took on the video of the wanton, brutal murder of Tyre Nichols by the police. Unbearable pain does not begin to express what we felt. Deep rage and anger at the relentless, vengeful, absolutely heartless thug murder of a young man full of life who posed no threat and was pleading for his life. A young man who skated, had a son and was a son. We turn our anger to prepare now for an actual revolution. Nothing less. Nothing else. Watch and listen to the Revolution Club national spokesperson, Noche Diaz, break down why these pigs do what they do, and what it is that we need to do to overthrow a system that requires brutal enforcers to maintain its “way of life” (read Noche's statement here).
How these Memphis pigs did Tyre is a concentration of the genocide this country has done to Black people from Day 1. Everyone should be confronted with this and think hard about this reality. Dig into and spread Bob Avakian’s article “AMERICA: Truly a Model—of DEPRAVED RACIST GENOCIDE. How can any decent person deny that we need a revolution to overthrow this system?” People may say, but you can’t make revolution here, that’s common sense. Read Bob Avakian’s answer to a youth who raised this, “‘Common Sense’ Is Often Wrong; A Scientific Approach Shows Revolution Is Possible, Especially In This ‘Rare Time’” which provides guidance on how we should be struggling with people to get into the revolution.
The question has been bandied about by politicians, media, and “activists”: What system is responsible for what happened to Tyre Nichols and thousands more: The Policing System or The System That Policing Serves? Watch Bob Avakian speak to this, here.
All of this and much more—from the oppression of women, differently gendered people, immigrants and refugees, and the destruction of the environment—are reasons why we need a revolution for a whole new and radically different and better world where all of this is no more and where humanity can get on the road to real emancipation. There is leadership for this.
Revcom.us grounds itself in and follows the leadership of Bob Avakian, the architect of the new communism. Bob Avakian, or BA, is a radically different kind of leader who’s brought forward a whole new framework for human emancipation. We feature his most recent works, and we enable you to also dig into what he’s written on many different burning questions and over a whole period of time (see BA’s Collected Works and The New Synthesis of Communism: Fundamental Orientation, Method and Approach, and Core Elements).
Right now, the main place for everyone to start is with BA’s recent interviews on The RNL—Revolution, Nothing Less! YouTube show:
