Look at the last two weeks: Trump indicted. Fascists calling for civil war. LGBTQ youth attacked. Smoke choking the air over NYC. The danger of nuclear war intensifying. A racist white woman murdered her Black neighbor in front of her nine-year-old son. On top of constant sexual assault, police murder, mass deportations of immigrants.

Read this issue of revcom.us and you will understand the truth from the WE ARE THE REVCOMS Proclamation: “Shaping up before us now are two fundamentally opposed futures: Something Terrible, Or Something Truly Emancipating. And this truth rings out now more powerfully than ever: Which future we get depends to a great extent on what we do.”

Key now is putting this revolution on the map. This will require large-scale funding, and growing networks of the revolution that are giving and raising those funds.

Millions agonize—in fear for the future, with aspirations for a better world. Yet even those very same people are caught up in a lot of wrong ways of thinking and acting, turning their anxiety and anger inwards or directed at other oppressed people in the very same situation. They need to be struggled with to see the truth of the deeper reality.

And that truth is: Humanity does not have to live this way—there's a whole different way to organize society, and a whole better world that's possible through an actual revolution. This fact, and the growing forces for this revolution—need to reverberate through all of society, “changing the terms of how masses of people see things and how every institution in society has to respond...”

People need to know that this extreme danger means that revolution—a real revolution—has become more possible. That there is a leader, Bob Avakian (BA), who has developed a strategy, a roadmap to wrench that revolution out of this profound crisis. They need to raise their sights to  what BA has laid out in the Constitution for the New Socialist Republic in North America, an inspiring and concrete vision and blueprint for how society could be run on a whole different economic and political foundation, to uproot exploitation and oppression and enable humanity to become fit caretakers of the earth.

Think about the next two weeks: As big jolts continue to shake people awake, the forces for revolution need to be reaching and involve growing numbers of people. This means high-impact efforts to raise big funds to radically and quickly change the dynamic where not nearly enough people know about this revolution and are with it. Spreading the WE ARE THE REVCOMS Proclamation on the walls, at summer festivals, in big enlargements—putting the vision, strategy and challenge before all kinds of people everywhere. Coming up with daring and creative ways to seize the headlines and break open societal debate.

Again, all this requires funding, and organized fundraising networks. When you ask people to donate to the revolution, you are spreading revolution and you are building up the organized forces for revolution—you are giving people a way to step into the revolution and are forcing them to consider what's worth sacrificing for. To meet the goal of $100,000 in this fund drive, we are having a fundraising livestream on June 25, and again, on July 16. These will serve as punctuation points in this all-out effort. They will be an opportunity to knit together the whole national movement for revolution so people can see the strategy for revolution in effect and learn the bigger thing they're part of, together with people across the country. Each livestream should involve waves of people stepping into the revolution for the first time—tuning in to watch, sharing with friends, contributing funds and taking part in fundraising efforts.

Again, raising funds will also require struggle about the situation we're in, why we need a revolution and what this revolution is aiming for. It will require struggle against other ways people see dealing with the existential crisis in society: whether it be charity to help a handful of people, or the BEB—Bourgeois Electoral Bullshit—which keeps people confined within this oppressive system. We'll learn a great deal by waging this struggle, at the same time as people don't have to come to full agreement to recognize the urgent need to break this debate open into all of society—forcing people to raise their sights to think about the big questions of reform vs. revolution, the nature of the system we live under, and what could be possible with a radically different system.
