“In other war zones, civilians get injured, but it has been a small portion of the casualties… [in Gaza] over half of the people that I saw were children.”
– Dr. Adam Hamawy
Dr. Adam Hamawy has been volunteering for various humanitarian missions for wars and natural disasters over the past thirty years. He is one of 99 American physicians and nurses who served in Gaza this year, who sent an open letter to President Biden and Vice President Harris.
The letter ends, “Every day that we continue supplying weapons and munitions to Israel is another day that women are shredded by our bombs and children are murdered with our bullets.” That letter documented that “It is likely that the death toll from this conflict is already greater than 118,908, an astonishing 5.4% of Gaza’s population.”
Dr. Hamawy has been interviewed by CNN, the Washington Post, PBS and other media. His presentation and Q&A at Revolution Books will draw on his experience in Gaza from a unique perspective of having been in other war zones around the world. This will be a precious opportunity to experience and learn from a close-up and visceral picture of what is going on Gaza.
Dr. Hamawy will include a presentation of photos of his experience.
The event will be hosted and moderated by Alan Goodman. Alan is a revolutionary communist and a correspondent for revcom.us, writing about Palestine, Israel, and the role of U.S. imperialism. In 2008-2009, he covered and participated in the Gaza Freedom March that attempted to break the blockade of Gaza at the Rafah crossing from Egypt.
Spread the word now! Bring your friends, classmates, your colleagues, and everyone who needs to more deeply understand, feel, and act commensurately in response to the towering war crimes U.S. bombs, war planes, financial support, and diplomatic backing of Israel inflict on the Palestinian people in Gaza.
