A crew of us took the operation saturation campaign to Philly. This included an artist/musician who had just recently connected with the Revcoms at the ASA conference the week earlier. They had been engaging with the fliers and pamphlets they got from us there, and became part of planning this outing when I reached out to them a few days later. We had 60 posters total of both We Are the Revcoms and We Need and We Demand, A Whole New Way to Live, a Fundamentally Different System in English and Spanish, along with fliers to promote The RNL—Revolution, Nothing Less!—Show. We started postering at a major transportation hub in North Philly and then we covered a big intersection nearby. Afterwards we went to a block in the Kensington neighborhood where Philly police had recently murdered a young Puerto Rican man named Eddie Irizarry in cold blood a few weeks ago.
This is exactly where the message of revolution needed to be spread. We tried to do some fliering to people passing by in both locations, with a few people being a little curious and a lot who just weren’t trying to hear it. We spread out the posters across a few blocks but I think next weekend we should find a big spot to make a large and concentrated display that will really impact people, draw them in, and spark controversy for us to respond to.
All throughout, we had a lot of informal discussion about the need and possibility for revolution, the current polarization and the ways of thinking that are holding people back from getting with it.
