This weekend in Eagle Pass, there has been a leap in the fascist attempt to remake all of society, spearheaded by Texas governor Abbott, orchestrated by Trump. A coalescing of fascist forces on three fronts:
The armed forces of the Texas National Guard occupying this park.
13 Republican governors, gathering for a press conference with Greg Abbott right behind us, escalating their fight with the Biden administration – which they see as illegitimate – and consolidating their stranglehold on this park, this town, and this border – with their eyes set on the whole country.
And finally, the “Take Our Border Back” “God’s Army trucker convoy” – rabid, fanatical, armed to the teeth white supremacist Christian fascists who constitute the shock troops and vigilantes of this movement.
These fascists are itching for a one-sided civil war – a chance to be rid of everyone they hate. And it is a deadly delusion that this will be stopped by relying on the elections, which the fascists have already said they won't abide by, or the courts, which are themselves dominated by fascists.
Yet that is what the Democrats are doing – while leading the decent people who don’t want to see children dying in the river to do the same. Where are Biden’s agents cutting down the 8 miles of razor wire lining the Rio Grande? Nowhere. The fascists are setting the terms while Biden, who has deported more immigrants than any other president, offers them deals to close the border.
Yes, there is a political standoff, and yes, these two sides are irreconcilable, but when the rulers are fighting, we don’t side with one oppressor or the other. We make revolution.
These fascists justify everything they do with the racist lie that this is an “invasion.” But who are the real invaders? Not this child, this little girl found drowned in the river just last week. Not Victerma de la Sancha Cerros and her two children, who drowned in the river on January 12 within reach of Texas National Guard. Not these desperate migrants that are forced to flee their homes for survival because of this system of capitalism imperialism, and this country that feeds off, exploits, oppresses, and destroys the rest of the world. This country – the United States of America – waged war with Mexico and stole half its land. This country has invaded Central and South American countries dozens of times—and propped up brutal regimes and death squads. This country to this day violates national borders every single day in its fight to dominate the world.
It is this border that is illegitimate. This country that is illegitimate. This system that is illegitimate.
We don’t have an immigration problem. We have an imperialism problem.
Stop the demonization, criminalization, and deportations of immigrants and the militarization of the border.
We need and we demand a whole new way to live, a fundamentally different system – a society based on the Constitution for the New Socialist Republic of North America, authored by the revolutionary leader Bob Avakian. This new society would not treat migrants as enemies to be brutalized or exploited, but would welcome people from around the world who want to contribute to building a whole new society to emancipate humanity.
We, the revcoms, are organizing people into this revolution now. The world is being radically changed. You can see that here in Eagle Pass. But whether it is radically changed for the better, or for worse, depends on what you do now.
