From a sustainer:

I loved the interview. I have heard BA speak and read many of his articles. With this interview you get much more than that. It shows the human side of the revolution and its leader. His sense of humor and his passion based on science!

When I look at the countless vicious videos of police murders I am filled with rage and a desire for revenge. BA uses the science to show why the system must rely on terror and how it can't stop. He shows that our future can't be driven by that revenge or we will become what they are. There is a great need for us to break with things holding us back.

Look at Ukraine. This is not simply a small country being invaded. It's two imperialists fighting over control of parts of Europe with Ukrainians as the cannon fodder. When so many are going along with this, BA has fought for this from the beginning of the war.

In times like these, many voices and opinions come forth: politicians, the clergy, media sources, and others. There are major concerns of police brutality, oppression of women, racism and war, and violence. These, and all other acts exist to inform society of an illness which warrants an investigation, a scientific investigation, into the disease which concerns humanity as a whole.

Why science? Science seeks to determine the basis of an issue, the root of the problem, recognizing that all problems have a source. They have a foundation. In fact, what we experience as diseases of society can be defined as (symptoms). Scientifically based, we experience symptoms of what ails us individually, and collectively. It is within this context, we should seek to remedy the disease so that the symptoms would cease. The symptoms, poverty, violence, oppression... may be signs of the problem but no successful practitioner in any field of scientific endeavor confuses symptoms with root of the problems.

May we look to a practitioner who speaks to the cause of our problem and not our symptoms, only.

The interviews given by Bob Avakian get to the fundamentals (source) of the problem. Take a fresh approach to understanding why things continue day after day, month after month, year after year! Be transformed in your thinking, and find a scientific answer to a scientific problem. It is where you need to look!

Statement from Oakland lawyer on The Interview

What I liked most about the interview with Bob Avakian was the warmth, humor, and directness of the real human being. Not the incisive philosopher and revolutionary—though he is marvelously both—but this person, with a past, with passions, with flaws, with modesty. I was not in the presence of a “god-man”; I did see a fully human man: his revolutionary challenge is, for me, made all the more powerful. Watching the interview also sparked my memory of having appeared as a lawyer in Spurgeon Avakian’s courtroom. I have gained greatly from both son and father.

In response to the Physician's 5 for $500 letter and challenge I say, Count Me In!

For most of my adult life I have come to understand the backward and negative role the U.S. plays in the world with resulting wars of conquest, super-exploitation of other countries, genocide of different peoples and cultures, wanton disregard of the environment, accompanied by widespread discrimination against people of color and pervasive oppression of women and people of differing genders or non-binary. In addition, many years ago I chose to learn medicine thinking that I could dedicate my life to improving the health of the people by being a bridge between them and medical science. It didn’t take too long to realize that to REALLY improve the health and decrease disease of the people would require seriously addressing the social, political, economic foundational systemic causes of ill health.

For all these reasons I am now actively supporting the movement for a real Revolution—Nothing Less and the leadership of Bob Avakian (BA). There are many lessons I’ve learned from BA’s books and speeches and interviews. I am most inspired by the breadth and depth of his reality-grounded analysis of the past, understanding of the present, and vision of the future. Through his methodology and example, he thoroughly enables us in these RNL Show Interviews (as well as his many books and speeches) to grapple with and to grasp WHY a real revolution is NECESSARY, WHY and HOW a real revolution and establishment of a socialist state is DESIREABLE, and WHY and HOW a real revolution is POSSIBLE even in the most alpha capitalist-imperialist country in the world. With the New Communism, BA had truly rescued communist practice from the realm of idealism and religion to the living scientific methodology that it is, and re-invigorated the resolve of activists around the world.

So I am adding my $500 to the cause and also calling on all healthcare professionals (and others) to learn about BA, to really think about how each of us can help create a new world, to check out these RNL Interviews and study the works of BA, and to join in this movement for a real revolution now.

From Shekib Mosadeq, revolutionary internationalist artist from Afghanistan:

Farsi Version of this Statement

Bob Avakian is someone who doesn't let people's attention get diverted from the widespread and continual crimes of capitalist system. He scientifically shows that an oppressor in any shape or form—whether it is of the Islamic Republic rulers or the Taliban or the US, the Russian or the Chinese imperialists—the shape doesn't matter. They're all products of the capitalist system.

On Bob Avakian’s Interviews

From Shekib Mosadeq, revolutionary internationalist artist from Afghanistan

I'd like to have the opportunity to say a few words about Bob Avakian, and on the special edition of the "Revolution, Nothing Less!" program, hosted by my dear internationalist comrades, Sunsara Taylor and Andy Zee!

Bob Avakian (BA) is the architect of New Communism.  Namely, after Marx, he has accomplished the second greatest advancement in the science of communism. Fortunately, he's living and he's in the process of leading a momentous revolution, in the belly of the capitalist beast of US imperialism.

The New Communism stands on the shoulders of 150 years of great communist revolutions, from the Paris Commune to the Chinese Socialist Revolution, with one goal in mind: To once and for all free humanity and the planet Earth from the class system!

This is why Bob is the most important thinker and the leader of all revolutionaries, he truly wants to free the world from every kind of oppression and exploitation: from Kabul and Herat, to Tehran, Zahedan, Marivan and Sanandaj, to Sulayimaniya and Baghdad, to Damascus, to Diyarbekir and Istanbul, to Bogota, to Mexico City and to Madrid...
*

Bob Avakian is someone who doesn't let people's attention get diverted from the widespread and continual crimes of capitalist system. He scientifically shows that an oppressor in any shape or form—whether it is of the Islamic Republic rulers or the Taliban or the US, the Russian or the Chinese imperialists—the shape doesn't matter. They're all products of the capitalist system.

Using undeniable facts and a sharp and powerful scientific method, Bob has stood against the maniacal hostility towards communist revolution. This is a vital task since communist revolution is the only way to emancipate the oppressed people around the world and save planet Earth from annihilation. If this path forward gets blocked—and it is already blocked to a large degree—we'll end up with a future in which the current status quo will look like a festive party.

You and I, and all of us who are troubled all day and night about the condition and the fate of billions of people around the world, and especially the enslavement of women, have a responsibility to wholeheartedly struggle against the ruling powers and their system. We need to follow the analysis and scientific method of the New Communism and the leadership of Bob Avakian, in order to understand the source of so much anti-human wickedness and cruelty, and for the way to solve it.

Bob is the foremost theoretician and strategist of revolution in the current era. The good thing is that he's not only the theoretician of the science of emancipation of the oppressed and exploited human beings, but he has developed the theory, and led in putting it into practice, and raised consciousness about it.

The "Revolution, Nothing Less!" program is a channel that on a weekly basis provides the teachings of such an important and decisive leader, draws on the most important related events around the world, and shows the way to make revolutionary changes.

The interview with Bob Avakian is very educational and lively. In cases when Bob tells us with sincerity that we need to change our thoughts and method of thinking, it's of the utmost importance. Such a system, led by the despicable Khamenei [of Iran], tramples on our humanity—calls us trash and weeds, and it even wants to dictate what and how we think.  After finding out about such a thing, we start to get angry at ourselves.

Bob is right to say that “oppressed people who do not want or who cannot face reality the way it is, are doomed to remain slaves and oppressed.” It's not just religion and the religious sects that do not allow a person to have scientific way of thinking and a scientific approach to all events. Many other delusions do the same thing such as the delusion on the possibility of reforming the current status quo and the ruling systems.

Bob says that basic people are an important section of the participants in the revolution.  But those people need to realize why they're in the struggle! What their goal is! Is accomplishing certain changes within the framework of the existing system their goal? Or do they actually realize that, within the framework of the existing system, no positive change is possible in regards to the horrific crimes perpetrated in this country and generally around the world.

Bob warns us not to call everything revolution.  Revolution means overthrowing this capitalist system in all aspects. It means overthrowing its political structure in all countries, and changing the mode of economic production, all the social relationships, and the old [ways of] thinking and replacing it with a system that, in all aspects and [in the foundation], is different from the society that we have at the present time.

Bob talks about another important reality. He warns the people who live in the US that they are feeding off imperialist parasitism. Yes, your relative comfort is due to the fact that your imperialist governments are oppressing Third World countries. They're not just exploiting them, they're super-exploiting them. Your duty is to make revolution in the U.S., and help billions of oppressed people to break the chains of imperialist exploitation and oppression.

Bob's analysis in a segment of his interviews is very alarming. He says that the fascists have gained the upper hand in the US government.  They believe that tens of millions of people in the U.S. are not legitimate at all, and are not counted as human beings such as gays, transgendered, Blacks, indigenous people, Hispanics and independent women. Both ruling factions in the US are anti-human criminals. They don't consider billions of people around the world as human beings. With such an outlook, as they have stated, they want to take Afghanistan back into the Stone Ages by putting the Taliban in power.

For an actual example of the positive and growing prospect out of the depths of the current horrifying conditions, we can look at the uprising of women and the youth in Iran. To prevent such historic uprisings from achieving nothing, we must become communists if we haven't already done so. We need to organize and wage communist revolutions from Afghanistan to Iran to the US.

A salute to the "Revolution, Nothing Less!" show, and the inspiring interviews with Bob Avakian!

Physician's 5 for $500 letter

A few weeks ago, inspired by the new interviews, "Up Close and Personal With Bob Avakian, Heart and Soul & Hard-Core For Revolution," and recognizing the power these interviews can have if introduced into society in this moment of so much despondency and delusion, I made a donation and called on others to match that donation ("Will you be the one to match a $500 challenge from a physician who supports the Revcoms and sees the difference that genuinely revolutionary leadership can make right now?"). It was exciting to hear Lenny Wolf announce that a viewer of the interviews, a professor who had never donated to the Revcoms before, stepped forward to meet that challenge! Other people made larger donations, and then called on others to match! And this occurred just as the interviews were starting to get out there, only starting to have an impact among a small but growing number of people.

Over the past few weeks, the show and the website revcom.us have told of ways people have come together with determination to raise funds and strengthen a movement on a mission to put revolution on the map. There was the story of people joining together to make and sell tamales—each inspired by the interviews—relying on the skills of people, and calling forth the initiative of others who could be won to support their efforts when obstacles came up. A number of other folks have stretched their means to donate what they can, then asking people they know to match their donation, as seen in the examples of the 10x10 donations in Chicago among other places.

Inspired by these collective fundraising projects, when an opportunity came up, I jumped at the chance to work together with a couple of other people who likewise want to spread the impact of these interviews among professors, doctors, lawyers and other professionals, and as a part of doing so, calling on them to give funds needed to accomplish this. We will learn more as we set to this task, and we are committed to struggling through challenges as they come up, and doing this as a part of a nationwide movement. We are inspired to stand alongside our sisters and brothers who took out the 10x10 challenge in Chicago, and who made tamales and worked to spread revolution in LA!

In this spirit, I want to make an additional $500 challenge donation, and call on five other people to donate $500 dollars (we could call it a 500x5), focusing this challenge on people who have the resources to make this kind of gift to the struggle, and who can see, watching the interviews and this livestream today, that THIS is where those funds should go! We (our “team”) are reaching out to friends and colleagues, calling on them to match this. And today we call on other people across the country to take this up and issue this challenge—we want everyone who has the resources to do this to also step in! If the challenge is met in whole tonight during this livestream, we will not stop there, and will take out another challenge round this coming week.

Please donate generously, and spread this call to others!

From donor contributing $2,000 as a matching challenge:

I believe that these interview videos can appeal, on various levels, to a fairly wide audience. We should go out rather broadly with them to lots of strata, even people who have been solidly in the liberal camp, but whose confidence has been shaken lately as to whether the system can survive amid the crisis and reaction they are witnessing. There are many parts of the interview that speak to their deeper yearning for a way out of this mess and a way forward; even if such middle forces don't agree with everything that is said, it will force many of them to ponder what is at stake, and to consider "where should I stand if it does come to that?" In other words, BA's message can now strike home in places where it might not have even been given a hearing five years ago.

Statement from the person who made the PONCHO, a premium gift for someone who donates $500:

“…we have to reach out to the young people and get them to realize that they have to look up AND THEY HAFTA SEE THAT THEY HAFTA STOP ACTING AS THE SYSTEM WANTS THEM TO ACT, that they act in all these harmful ways because they don't see a way out, and we hafta give them that way out. But as BA said, this will be a big struggle, a huge struggle!” She said she has designed a shirt she wants to get printed to sell to raise money for the revolution, saying “Stop killing each other.”

I was a single mom raising children of my own. I  taught myself how to crochet, making blankets, scarves, hats for my children and then other people would ask me to make them for their babies and so I did, and that was my start… Just now thinking and listening to the premiere on The RNL Show: “BOB AVAKIAN you are absolutely right about many things. From Dr. Reynaldo F. Macías, faculty member and founding Chair of the UCLA César E. Chávez Department of Chicana and Chicano Studies:

I am donating because the work that Bob Avakian and the revcoms are doing in scientifically analyzing our current oppressive conditions is important and needs to be put center stage of discussions about what is happening in this country and this world. Too much of what is provided by commercial media and traditional or patriotic institutions, including schools, is more a matter of covering up government misdeeds and oppressions than they are about clarifying them and being part of a solution to improve them. Bob Avakian, and revcom, have proved to be clear eyed in doing a lot of that good work, it needs to be widely disseminated, debated and discussed.

From a donor who gave $25 (from Boston):

I finished the second part of the interview last week, and am planning on finishing the third this week when I’m home from visiting family. It’s really a very interesting interview. His points about the institutionalized patriarchy, systemic oppression, cancel culture, and the dissection of the Bible are all very thought-provoking and well said.  Thank you so much for this information

From a donor who gave $1,000:

I am a Vietnam veteran having going into the service when I was 17, discharged undesirably when I was 21. It was after my discharge that I became active against the war. I came to see what this country did around the world, and how they used us to further their oppression of people…

I give to the revcoms because there is no one group other than this one. They can bring people forward and unite people for a real change. I have to mention Bob Avakian, because he has been unwavering over the years, he tries to unleash your mind so you can grow stronger and figure it out, he makes you think.

From a donor:

I made a donation for the fund drive to publicize the BA Interviews on The RNL—Revolution, Nothing Less!—Show. Why did I do this and why am I encouraging other people to listen to the interviews, support The RNL Show, and to get these interviews out to others broadly? If people are really being honest with themselves, the situation IS dire, but there are real possibilities to change things if we want a better future for humanity, the planet and future generations.

A statement from a medical professional who is donating $500 to Revolution Books inspired by the BA Interviews on the RNL Show:

If BA's voice, with all its heart, humor, and thoroughly scientific analysis were to reach students, activists, thinkers, artists, writers, poets, journalists, what a difference it could make!

People whose heads are turned towards making sense of this oppressive and soul crushing world, whose curiosity outweighs their cynicism, could emerge as followers of BA and The New Communism and ultimately become fighters for revolution....

I watched his latest interviews at Revolution Books in Harlem. This bookstore is one of those rare spaces where different people from various backgrounds visit—people who've lived in Harlem their whole lives and people from all over the world. People who are voracious readers and people who come to hear authors read or watch a provocative film or the Revolution, Nothing Less! Show. I talked and mingled with people after watching the interviews. I was energized by people's impressions of BA's method and approach.

That night I was moved to give $500.00 towards launching a broad, bold, creative campaign that will introduce Bob Avakian to a whole new audience— one that yearns for a better world.

If you too were inspired by these interviews or if your mind was opened to a different way of thinking about change, lasting change, you need to join me in this fundraising event.

We will never put an end to the horrors of this world without BA's vision and leadership.

Statement from a Chicago Revolution Club member who has taken up the 10x10 challenge and has raised $80 towards his goal of $100:

“How I raise money is by watching the 3rd part of the interview at work during my Break, and a lot of my coworkers was curious so I decided to put it on my Bluetooth speaker so they can listen and watch it. Also, a lot of my coworkers was really into it, so after the video I boldly ask my coworkers are they willing to donate. Some agree to donate. I even got one of my cousins to donate—to my knowledge he haven’t watch the interview yet but he wanted to donate because it’s a good cause. So that’s how I raise funds.”

I’m giving $325 because you revolutionaries care for humanity and are the only organization that wants to see the emancipation of humanity.

You talk about the system of capitalism and I see violence on TV, especially all of the police killings of young people, especially the Black youth. Around the world too, look at how they killed Mahsa Amini in Iran. It’s such a bad situation going on right now, and not only in the U.S. but around the world.

I’m giving today because Bob Avakian talks about ending all this oppression with a revolution. Bob Avakian talks about a new world, his vision is emancipating.

I find these Bob Avakian Interviews very interesting! I can say I feel the same way as he, I want to see humanity emancipated.

I really do like Bob Avakian! He speaks from the heart and cares about humanity. Some of us see it the same way but don’t speak out—even people with big hearts. It would be good to have this Bob Avakian interview shown everywhere, on CNN, on the Bill Maher Show and many other places.

As the holidays arrive, millions of people confront the fact that time with family means a visit to a jail, prison or juvenile hall where their loved ones are being treated like animals. Los Angeles Juvenile Halls are faced with crisis, and the LA times recently exposed another level of terror and torture being inflicted on the youth incarcerated there.

In the midst of this, the Revolution Tour set out to reach people with the only way out of this madness: a REAL REVOLUTION to do away with this system of capitalism-imperialism which criminalizes, contains, and brutalizes so many of our youth.

Leading up to a press conference held by the revolution tour held outside of LA Juvenile hall, the revcoms hit the ground to impact, projecting revolutionary messages on the sides of detention centers and jails, doing outreach to families who are visiting their loved ones who are locked up, inviting them to be a part of this revolution and watch the new Interviews with the revolutionary leader, Bob Avakian. In these interviews, BA speaks directly to this section of youth that are being brutally suppressed by this system, recognizing their potential to not just be part of ending their own oppression, but to be part of a force that’s ending all oppression through an actual revolution.

The Revolution broke through with this message in media publications, but we need your help. The youth who are locked up, the millions more who face the same future, and even the fate of humanity depends on your support. Donate to the revolution so we can impact society in an even bigger way, and connect people with the real strategy and leadership for an emancipating revolution. What would you give to live in a world where no longer do the lives and potential of our youth get snuffed out, a future where humanity can truly flourish?

“I connected with y'all after I heard the program on the radio (The Michael Slate Show) and I knew what y'all was saying was the truth. I've always felt that way in my heart. When I listened to your group I felt like I connected with somebody who felt the same way I did and understood life that way and really wanted to put effort in trying to do something about it. And that's why I'm donating because I know it's the right thing to do.”

"I just donated $50 to the Campaign because I know how hard it is to raise funds for organizations that work for equality and an extraordinary way to achieve that. Part 2 has a section on Ukraine about which many of us wrestle. We don’t want to see a people overrun by another nor do we want to see a people possibly used for a proxy war. Mr. Avakian’s analysis adds to my personal struggle between wanting to help a suffering people yearning for a certain freedom and our sincere desire to build better societies worldwide.

"Thank you."

Following are oral statements that came with 2 donations of $5 each from a young couple who work at a washateria in one of Houston's major ghettos. The first is from a woman who keeps cards promoting the Interview on a little stand at the counter where she works, set up to catch people's attention.

"I think he (BA) is sending a really good message. It's an eye opener and people really need to hear it."

Her Boyfriend:

"I would like to help this movement grow. With this donation I hope to help in some way as I myself and girlfriend are struggling with many relatable things Mr. Avakian speaks of. I pray this movement grows and we see nothing but blessings out of this."

From a house painter and musician and student of European history who donated $100:

“You can’t get liberty under this system and BA says that revolution will bring human emancipation”. He had just seen a picture book documenting the U.S. penal system. He said it reminded him of the penal system of Devil’s Island under Napoleon III (1851 to 1870) and Hitler. “This is a declining empire, it can’t deliver—neither Trump or the Democrats have any answers”.

He comments on the abuses in China, Bangladesh, Venezuela and the most marginalized, the slaves. And in the last three decades, the system's oppression of women forced them to prostitute themselves and then to have an abortion, which is now a crime.

In the past women had to prove that when they got married they were virgins. To prove it they had to show a bloody sheet, which is unfair because if they weren't virgins they couldn't get married and they were punished very badly.

Everything he says is true. I have heard my ancestors talk about this before, but the truth is that many years have gone by since I heard about a revolution like Bob talks about. A revolution against the oppressors, nothing less.

From A $900 donor:

I've been in and out of touch with the work of Bob Avakian over decades, and I can see both the thing about the solid foundation of his commitment to the goal of revolutionary change, and the amount of development, of his commitment to and his deep, scientific understanding of the underlying, larger picture of the reality of society; of the plight of mankind.

That was present back then, and it still shines in the interviews that he gave. I'm talking about what the interviewers pointed out of his humanity and revealing his anguish. I  think those are the two things that have been carried out throughout these years. It's been the thing about the interviews now that brings back my sense of understanding of his commitment and that he's a real person, not a demagogic intellectual, or condescending entity lecturing us, the masses of people, but that he has a scientific and a gut, gut, sense or gut understanding that the people at the base of society, the basic masses do have the capacity to rise up and challenge, and in fact change the world, make this revolution; that's been present throughout, that comes shining back in these interviews.

That IS inspiring. Through all these years, he hasn't gotten used to having the masses of people of the world go through life in such a devastating manner.

As the holidays arrive, millions of people confront the fact that time with family means a visit to a jail, prison or juvenile hall where their loved ones are being treated like animals. In the midst of this, and a major crisis specifically in the juvenile jails, the National Revolution Tour went out to reach people with the real way out of this madness.  Read more

From a woman who is a biologist, tutoring African-American students at a community college

"Though I’d earlier watched Part 1 of the BA interview, this weekend I watched the video clip “Bob Avakian speaks to those who live life on the desperate edge and members of the Revolution Club of Chicago respond.” I watched it twice and decided to give to the fund drive to put revolution on the map.  What Bob Avakian said in the clip reminded me of my conversations with my students, mostly African-American youth from impoverished neighborhoods, where we’d have at times deep talks where they would often blame themselves for the situations they were stuck in, or blame their teachers and I’d tell them to blame the system instead.

"Years ago, at a different job at Cook County Hospital, a public hospital that provides healthcare to the poor, I had a client who later died of AIDS who told me he had to learn on his own how to analyze things politically and how our talks helped him do that.

"As far as bringing these youth into the revolution, I agree with what Bob Avakian says, that we can’t just repeat, “We need a revolution” but we have to break down for them that revolution is the only solution and why—so they internalize it as their own. It’s not just lecturing. it’s a process of getting in deep with them and all their struggles, and show them not to blame each other or themselves, but instead to blame the system that takes their money, and their individuality. It’s not a quick thing. As Bob Avakian talks about, it’s a process of critical thinking, and you have to almost live their experiences with them and not just have a superficial relationship.

"It’s important to donate to the cause of this revolution because leaflets and other materials are needed to spread the interviews. You should join with me in donating to facilitate this process if you know this system is broken and needs to be replaced with a different system through revolution."

Outreach to Professors: Invite the Revcoms to Speak to Your Class!

A team from the Revolution Tour has been strategizing on how to go outside of our immediate networks and reach out broadly to the middle class—for real engagement and impact with The Bob Avakian Interviews on The RNL—Revolution, Nothing Less!—Show, and to raise funds to put this revolution on the map. In this, we've also wrestled with the strategic importance of reaching those among the intelligentsia who really care—challenging them to get into this revolution, at this urgent time.  Read more

In Lieu of Gifts, Make a Donation to the Fund Drive to Put This Revolution on the Map

From a reader:

My office has a yearly holiday party which involves “Secret Santa” exchanges and gifts. In lieu of presents this year... I received a total of $300 in cash and gift cards from three people expressing appreciation for “my dedication” to fighting for a better world, and one person wrote about appreciating my “passion and commitment to reminding her and others to ‘look up’ (vs. Don’t Look Up!) and this was a donation to RevCom…"

I work in an office with professionals and support staff who in the main are aptly described in the Fund Drive Call as people who do care and are aware to varying degrees of the very dangers we face in this moment of extreme crisis, including how the U.S. Constitution is being overturned and the dangerous implications of that as well as the growing fascist movement in this country, yet do not see, or do not want to see, how this very same moment holds the potential for something truly emancipating. My desk area has memes and palm cards posted from revcom.us, and especially with sharp developments and outbreaks draws people to want to come and talk about such developments.

Recently, I had shared the palm cards of the premiere of the BA Interviews on The RNL Show and emailed clips from the interviews to several coworkers and professionals in the office. One person had watched the clip: Bob Avakian on Biden, Putin & Xi Jinping: Imperialist Gangsters and the Need for Revolution! which opened up some sharp struggle over the analysis of these developments.

I shared the Tamales Holiday Festival flyer, and three people ordered tamales. In delivering the tamales, I thanked them for their contributions and invited and challenged them to watch the interviews. I explained what their donations were contributing to, which is very well put in the Fund Drive Call. I plan to send them the clip with Lenny Wolf and Michelle Xai on fundraising in this week’s episode of The RNL Showit would be very important for them to see people who have little means contributing to putting revolution on the map.

But even before I had the chance to let anyone know that in lieu of a gift to me, please donate to this fund drive, I received a total of $300 in cash and gift cards from three people expressing appreciation for “my dedication” to fighting for a better world, and one person wrote about appreciating my “passion and commitment to reminding her and others to ‘look up’ (vs. Don’t Look Up!) and this was a donation to RevCom…” With everyone I responded with both an appreciation for their donations and sharing with what their contributions make possible and the challenge for them to watch these extraordinary interviews with BA, to be able to see why a radically different and far better world IS POSSIBLE.

Will You Match This $500 Challenge?

“I'm going to match donations up to $500 dollars to encourage others to donate at this very important time in history. The work of BA is of critical importance to anyone who seeks to cast off the burdens of racism, sexism and homophobia to stop the destruction of our planet. If you see the actual emancipation of all of humanity, we need this plan and this scientific approach. There is no better time than now, the fate of the planet and humanity is at stake.”

The $500 challenge was met and exceeded by another generous $500 donor plus many smaller donations, including $24 collected from stores which displayed palm cards for the BA Interviews.

From someone who donated to the fund drive

"I made a donation for the fund drive to publicize the BA Interviews on The RNL—Revolution, Nothing Less!—Show. Why did I do this and why am I encouraging other people to listen to the interviews, support The RNL Show, and to get these interviews out to others broadly? If people are really being honest with themselves, the situation IS dire, but there are real possibilities to change things if we want a better future for humanity, the planet and future generations."

"People need to get their heads out of their butts and stop saying things like, "well, there is nothing we can do," or "I'm staying in my lane," etc. Thinking like that only sets up things easier for the capitalist-imperialist rulers of this system, fascists and other plug-uglies of their ilk who are MOST certainly NOT staying in their lane, but instead are sharpening their knives to make sure that no one steps "out of line" to challenge their rule. I would rather go down swinging than to be a "Good German" (Oops, I meant a "Good American") who is OK with the future of humanity and the planet being destroyed. We need to confront reality and the truth in a scientific, passionate, poetic way, and that is what BA has brought forth. No one else has taken up the responsibility to take up the task of first, fighting to create forces that have been keeping revolution on the map, here in the belly of the beast, and then going further to look at how things can be done better in the future and what problems in the past communist revolutions affected those revolutions and what we can learn from them. This is why I made this donation, and ask other people to do so. If you can't donate money, then donate your time, your ideas, your passion, spread it to friends, ask questions and debate the RevComs, they want to and need to learn from other people. So, let's go for it!"

A statement from a long-time civil rights and social activist

I understand Bob Avakian’s position, his evolution. He’s been looking at society and has responded to the changes in society—I totally understand how he’s gotten to this point.

I am impressed with Bob Avakian’s ability to articulate the present conditions; there is knowledge of how this system needs to change, but the question for me is how. I seriously want to hear how such a change could be made. Things do need to be changed, especially because of the imperialistic nature of this system.

"The Bob Avakian Interviews are quite interesting! There are significant insights into who Bob Avakian is… 'The Making of the Man.' We can see he has been on this path for many years, evolving to where he is at this time. From a young man to civil rights, the campus at UC Berkeley, the Black Panther Party, all the way to now… he has been a 'seeker of justice.' I call it a 'seeker of the right,' understanding 'right' in its original meaning. In these interviews I see a justification for why things need to change—no question about that. I understand Bob Avakian’s position, his evolution. He’s been looking at society and has responded to the changes in society—I totally understand how he’s gotten to this point.

We hear in the Bob Avakian interviews about Putin's attack on Ukraine… but both Bushes did the same thing to Iraq, and of course other countries have been attacked and invaded by the U.S.! I am of the philosophy that there needs to be a counter-voice. There is always the need for opposition to exploitation and oppression. This movement can surge to that degree. I support Bob Avakian’s voice being heard and continuing.”

Statement from someone from Berkeley

I understand when Bob Avakian talks about state power in the hands of the right people. Because the power that is in control in this country and the world is not for the people. The power that we have is not constituted to be humane for this country and the world. Bob Avakian has profound educated understanding of a humane world for everyone through Revolution. 'In psychology the just world phenomenon is the tendency to believe that the world is just and that people get what they deserve.' But to Bob Avakian a just world is when everyone is treated with humanity. Every so often a great mind comes along that sees a world with equal opportunity and ability to exist without being exploitative. When Bob Avakian mentions Revolution and the youth of today and crime and for despair of their future. Where they don't have jobs in this country anymore like they had in the past. Steel mills all over the United States, General Motors all of which are in other countries now. A lot of the crime is not the crime of greed, it's the crime of survival under the system we live in. It's a small world. I grew up in Berkeley and went to school with Bob Avakian. I knew most of the people Bob talked about in his book and friends with them. It's a small world."

“People who today are weighed down by hopelessness need to know there is a way to take on the monster that is this dehumanizing system. There is a strategy, rooted in the application of science to understanding what drives this system, the weaknesses it can't get around, inherent to the logic and dictates of this system, and the openings this creates for masses of people, with the right leadership, plan, method and orientation, to take it down and build something radically different in its place. We need to win people to see this is not the fever dream of the oppressed or those who long for a better world, but that it is possible. People don't need a new religion...they desperately need a REAL way forward. They need to get to know the leadership that exists for this revolution, to see Bob Avakian, hear him speak to these big questions, hear his scientifically-grounded and unshakable optimism and confidence in the potential of people to rise and become emancipators of humanity. Watching the interview, people get this sense of BA, who he is, how he approaches these things, and how he is leading people to take up this method and mission and become strategic commanders in this fight, people from all backgrounds. Please join me in donating to get this interview out to more people, and popularize it in ways that shake up people's prejudices and assumptions, stir up debate and discussion, and unleash inspiration, purpose, and hope among those who could become the force that could take this beast down.”

"It gives me so much hope, real hope, because we can apply what he's talking about. It stands out from him, and in listening to him, you can see more clearly the basis for revolution. He talks about these times we're living in—why it is much more possible in our lifetimes, than it's ever been—what that has to do with society being split apart from top to bottom. Then you also see that the more that this was out there, and people following him—a critical mass, representing an alternative to the parameters that people are trapped in... there would be a real alternative that people can see, a whole different way, a whole different direction that this stuff could go.

"It's BA, the situation and how you understand the situation we're living in right now. And it's not hype, it's real.”

From a young revcom

“I really liked his points on how the idea of rights in our society, which is a capitalist imperialist society can only go so far, like the whole right to eat thing, and that you can exercise your rights as long as they stay within the framework of capitalism imperialism."

“There was a lot in here that I learned, and started thinking about things just a little bit differently. Particularly things that I hadn’t heard before that were about his personal life and his upbringing and the things that really changed his worldview. Like somebody mentioned, when he was really trying to figure out what was going on in Vietnam, coming from a place that was like a conditioned patriot and trying to really understand if what they (the U.S.) were doing was right or wrong, and then seeing what happened in Selma, and just saying that there’s no way that this government cares about the lives of these people overseas when they will do this to the people of their own country.

“And I also really liked the whole section on democracy. I think it’s so so important right now with all of this talk about the end of our democracy or saving a democracy to really really analyze that and ask the question what a democracy really is, and if we have a democracy and if it is a democracy, a democracy for whom and for what. And I really liked his points on how the idea of rights in our society, which is a capitalist imperialist society can only go so far, like the whole right to eat thing, and that you can exercise your rights as long as they stay within the framework of capitalism imperialism.

“The examples of Fred Hampton, and the Attica prison rebellion, they were shut down in brutally and murderous ways. And what happens when you try to exercise your own rights. He talks about the right to question and be curious and to disagree and to bring up all this in an official capacity to the people who are running the country and for everyone to be involved in wrangling with what is actually good for people being a very important part of a socialist society, and a communist society.

“Another part that really affected me was when he talked about being a strategic commander, and what it means to have broadness of mind and the generosity of spirit and also engage in sharp struggle. In particular like (somebody else just mentioned), how much he has the broadness of mind and generosity of spirit to go to every corner that he could possibly can see in front of him and that he can explore, read, and talk to all people, get everybody’s, try to absorb everybody’s differently led experiences and also different intricacies of how the different conditions that these people live in have developed and how we’ve gotten to the place that we’re in and what he can learn from people who vehemently disagree with communism or himself but have critiques that then he can learn from. And we as revolutionary communists can learn from. People who are totally on the wrong track in terms of their conclusion but with what they’re working with, really bring up important content that like we as revolutionary communists need to consider and integrate and understand.

“I think that it’s like, yeah, his examples of the people that he met, you know when they were very young, or whatever point in life that they were at, who might sound like just mouthpieces for the system but who could be totally totally transformed and he could see that potential right in front of him, whether it be in the sixties or some of the youth that he talks to today. I think that, I personally see that in a few ways but it’s really impactful to hear him talk about that, because he has such a conviction about that. There’s no maybe, some people are just too far gone or something like that, it’s like no, it’s like literally every single person has this potential and we need to believe that in order to make this revolution possible.”

"There’s this routine description of our system as a democracy in the election coverage when it is no such thing at all. As Bob Avakian would point out, it is in reality bourgeois democracy providing a cloak for an underlying capitalist class dictatorship. I did watch the Avakian interviews. They’re really, really first rate, and among many things people can extract from them are the historical context for the rise of Christo white nationalist fascism in the country. I don’t know anybody that has spoken and written more persuasively and brilliantly about how and why we have a fascist movement in this country, the historical context for that as a response to the victories of the social movements of the 1960s and the 1970s."

“In this interview what really struck me was just how deep he went into governing, like how would you govern a new society, how would you actually, why it is so important to institutionalize these things so that they support the revolution. And like really going deep into that, like the way that he went into the question of victims’ rights was by starting with what laws are for. Taking it out of the personal realm, like just seeing that methodology and where he began with that, and then you follow and by the end of it, you’re like of course! Then, what does a victim’s right have to do with this like what you’re trying to figure out in this court of law. Yeah so, it also did make me want to look into the Constitution (for the New Socialist Republic in North America) more and really try to understand that.”

I was able to watch the third installment of the Bob Avakian “Heart and Soul & Hard-Core for Revolution” with comrades and friends from the Revolution Club in Chicago, and I wanted to share a few things about the experience. If you haven’t seen it—and even if you have—this is a truly incredible 2 hours, where you not only get a course in the principles, methods and morals of the new communism, and in what the new society will look and feel like, but BA just opens his heart in a very moving way.

I got there early, but pretty much right away I got a real sense of elan from the revcoms in charge. It was relaxed and friendly, but at the same time serious. People were looking at literature and talking, and there were two people selling handmade headbands with STOP PATRIARCHY and other patches, along with jewelry, to raise funds. By the time we got a few minutes into it, there were maybe 35 people at the viewing, with half from the surrounding south side neighborhoods and a few from the west side, plus people from the north side and the burbs.

Just to think about this that he’s being doing this for over 45 years, and the one thing is that he feels the responsibility for the emancipation of oppressed humanity and that is why he can’t give up. It’s something that is mind-boggling, you know come to think of it. And I think it’s also important from the point of view that there’s a lot of ferment in the rest of the world also, and many people have embraced this new communism in certain parts, like Iran, and some parts in Mexico, even a part in Afghanistan, and Bangladesh, and there is some ferment even in Europe. So, I think that at this time, not only for this country, because we are in a rare time when revolution is more possible, but also for the rest of the world because you know, it does impact the rest of the movements of the world.

We hit the streets of South Central to start taking the Bob Avakian interviews directly to the people. We had a team with a TV in a pickup truck.  At one stop, we showed a clip about five minutes long from part 2 of the interview where he talks about how for people who catch the worst hell under this system, who are told they’re worthless, and lash out violently at each other, “there’s this whole notion that if you aren’t fucking over somebody else, you’re weak.” And he goes on to say, “I mean, some people will even talk about how if you’re in this life, out on the streets and whatever, in these communities and neighborhoods where all this is so intense, you can’t even laugh, at least not in public. You can’t even laugh because it makes you look weak.”

A man in his thirties stopped to watch this clip and came over to talk about it. He said when he saw BA’s image on the TV screen, he thought this looked like somebody who has never stepped a foot in the hood a day in his life. But when he heard him speak, he was astonished by how deeply he understands what is going on there. He told us a young friend had just been killed the day before, and he described how his friend was someone who used to laugh all the time, he didn’t care what people thought. It was clear he meant this laughing went up against the code you are ”supposed” to follow.

When one of the revcoms told him a little about BA’s history, mentioning he worked with the Black Panther Party back in the day, this person was glad to learn this and said anyone who has a history with the original Black Panthers has his respect, because they went through hell. Then he went on to say: but this man has my respect a million times more for what I heard him saying. The guy said he would watch the interview when he got home, spread it to others, and invite people to come with him to the in-person showing of part 3 on Saturday.

We have to get beyond that. Not contrived, not rehearsed, so natural is so appealing… The humor, and the fun, very serious, very immediate and at times very fun… If you keep an open mind and use your brain and also use your heart..and you’re a human being and you are going to benefit…

I’m used to fighting my way through by myself, but he kept drawing it back, painting a bigger and bigger picture...,  there are all the problems in this country but then he links them to the whole world….  l “know” these things, but the way he put it together was inspiring.

“As important and powerful as all the larger theoretical and political points that Avakian is making are, I also really enjoy hearing these personal stories like about youth, and growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area... He's quite good at weaving together the micro and the macro... And also, right on to calling out the ‘lack of curiosity’ that is too prevalent in our contemporary capitalist culture.”

From a filmmaker:

“I loved the part that living in the United States is like living in the house of Tony Soprano. I find what he said fairly accurate and so all his putting forward of the contradictions about the ‘little goodies’ all of us enjoy here in the U.S. made me look at it a little bit differently.”

I got it! I listened to various parts. I will watch it weekly. He is funny. I loved the part that living in the United States is like living in the house of Tony Soprano. I find what he said fairly accurate and so all his putting forward of the contradictions about the ‘little goodies’ all of us enjoy here in the U.S. made me look at it a little bit differently. Obviously different than what we normally hear, but a ferocious attack on all the contradictions. I have it on but will need to still catch up. I also see how he got along with the Panthers.

…this was different than other things — more personal, live discussion…. I  am wondering if confronting directly on religion is a waste of time but also I can see using it as an example as a tool to start people on the path for rational thinking and making people think. The main thing I was left with is wanting to hear part 2, wanting to hear more about Russia and Ukraine. This was a good introduction to BA, and there were aspects that I knew about him but this brought it more to life, a loose conversational podcast, people like that kind of content.

“I loved the humanity of it... how people can see he's a real person. And I loved how Sunsara and Andy put the questions to him. How they prepared questions they really wanted to know his answers to. It was wonderful.”

From a conversation with a woman who is friends with a member of the Revolution Club in Chicago:

“This part [in the second installment of the Interview] made me understand the system. He broke it down in a way that I could understand. He tells you straight, how he brings it a baby could understand. BA speaks like us, he don’t care if you like it or not – he just tells the truth.”

She couldn’t stop talking, she was bubbling over with enthusiasm and determination.  She had already watched Part 1 again on her own and she showed it to her husband.  She is getting her son to watch it as well.

She feels like she is part of a community, a team.  This is very important to her.  One of the things that you get from her is the heart and passion for this movement.

“...we have to reach out to them [the young people] and get them to realize that they have to look up AND THEY HAFTA SEE THAT THEY HAFTA STOP ACTING AS THE SYSTEM WANTS THEM TO ACT...”

“I agreed with all of what he said. Especially I thought it was important the part about how we can't defeat them right now but we can get all these young people to take on the mission of revolution and he talked about the struggle we have on our hands because they are all involved now in attacking and even killing each other, but we have to reach out to them [the young people] and get them to realize that they have to look up AND THEY HAFTA SEE THAT THEY HAFTA STOP ACTING AS THE SYSTEM WANTS THEM TO ACT, that they act in all these harmful ways because they don't see a way out, and we hafta give them that way out. But as BA said, this will be a big struggle, a huge struggle!” She said she has designed a shirt she wants to get printed to sell to raise money for the revolution, saying “Stop killing each other.”
