Welcome to REVOLUTION, at revcom.us.

Every week we bring you exposure not just of the horrors of this system, but of why only a revolution can do away with these horrors. And by revolution we don’t mean just “some big change,” but an organized rising of millions that digs to the roots of the problem and overthrows the economic system and form of political rule. Read the article in this issue on the human cost of the immigration crisis in South America and the experience of those driven to make the journey north… or the correspondence from a reader on the hundreds of deaths of people just awaiting trial in this country—disproportionately Black, Latino and Native… or Andy Zee’s blistering commentary from last week’s The RNL—Revolution, Nothing Less!—Show... and you will see what we mean. Every week we bring you why we can make this revolution, the strategy for it, and the character of it. You can’t read this piece too often—every time you go there, you get something new, something deeper.

We bring you the aims of this revolution, most of all in featuring the Constitution for the New Socialist Republic in North America, authored by Bob Avakian. Right now, when the capitalist-imperialists in the U.S. are seizing on the political crisis in their socialist-in-name but equally imperialist-in-actual-fact rivals in China to distort what real revolution is all about, we cut beneath the bullshit. This issue includes deep historical analyses by BA and by Raymond Lotta of the Chinese revolution (and its betrayal and defeat), along with a short, sharp critique of the imperialists’ propaganda offensive during the resistance in China to the program of restrictions on COVID.

Those kinds of things are fundamental to the mission of this website. But in this issue, our principal emphasis is on what the movement for revolution is doing right now to build that revolution spread the “game-changing” new Interviews, Up Close and Personal With Bob Avakian—Heart and Soul & Hard-Core for Revolution, and to raise funds in this year-end period to boost that effort, as the leading edge right now of the whole movement for and process of revolution. These Interviews contain so much—you get deep-going answers about why we need a revolution, about how the forces of today could actually grow to have a chance to really win, about how to analyze and understand all kinds of political and social phenomena, about the kind of society we’re fighting for… and in the course of this, you learn about this leader and what has made him who he is. Raising funds is crucially important for the movement for revolution—yes, and most of all, because it provides the resources needed to radically expand the reach of revolution. But also because each person who contributes, each person who raises money from others, begins to change themselves while they change the world. They become someone who is supporting the work to emancipate humanity the only way it can be emancipated—through revolution. The people who make and sell tamales to raise funds… the people who take up the 10 x 10 program (where you get 10 other people to contribute $10) are, as the article on this says, planting seeds. As you read the accounts of the different activities and why people have joined into this, you see that this movement has both a solid core of those who have gone deeply into this, especially through reading the work of BA, and you’ll see taking shape around that core a broader and more elastic layer of people who are supporting the revolution while still turning over in their minds, for now, questions about that revolution. It’s a dialogue, a struggle and a necessary process, and it goes on all the way through the day when power is seized and after. 

As the year begins to draw to a close, people reflect on what’s gone on… people get together with their loved ones… people think about what’s meaningful. At this time in particular, we need to share what we have with everyone we can—if the beginnings of the fundraising campaign show anything, it is that many people can find themselves wanting to support this revolution once they hear about it and especially when they encounter these Interviews. Again, often with struggle.

But it is not just supporting this movement in a static, timeless sense. 2023 must be a year when concrete and significant advances are made to this crucial objective laid out in Something Terrible, Or Something Truly Emancipating:

Everything depends on bringing forward a revolutionary people, from among the most bitterly oppressed, and all parts of society, first in the thousands and then in the millions, as a powerful revolutionary force, organized from the start and consistently with a country-wide perspective, impacting all of society and changing the terms of how masses of people see things and how every institution has to respond. Everything must be focused now on actually bringing forward and organizing this revolutionary force.

Getting this interview out on a scale to where Bob Avakian becomes a much bigger “point of reference,” someone whom many, many have heard about and even “gotten to know” in a very real way, including through these Interviews—which give you both the road to revolution and the human being who has led in forging that road. The difference that will make in what people see as possible… in what they will put up with… in where they will look for answers, not just today but tomorrow… is incalculable. We’ll say more as we go into the new year, but we ask you to make a vow to make the remaining days count for a lot—leading into the holidays and on the holidays themselves—spreading word of the revolution, showing and talking about the Interviews, and raising money. We are at a turning point in history. The capitalist-imperialist system is a horror for billions of people here and around the world and threatening the very fabric of life on earth. Our website applies the scientific approach BA has developed to analyze major events in society and the world—why they are happening, how they relate to each other, how all this relates to the system we live under, where people's interests lie, how revolution is in fact the solution to all this, and what the goals of that revolution are.

Revcom.us acts as a guiding and connecting hub for the revcom movement nationwide: showing what’s being done, digging into what’s right and what’s wrong, and rapidly learning—and recruiting new people into what has to be a rapidly growing force.
