This Week: Revolutionary May 1 and an Important New Work by Bob Avakian on Ukraine and the Danger of World War 3

This issue comes out in the week before May 1, when revcoms in Los Angeles and New York will unite people to gather and demonstrate around the slogans:

In unity with this day—and to contribute to making these manifestations as clear and powerful as possible—Bob Avakian (BA) has written a major piece in unity with those slogans, and further explaining them:

NOT A REPEAT OF WORLD WAR 2

This is, by far, the most important new piece we are posting this week. We urge all our readers to read this through once—and then to go back over it, carefully, and to do so repeatedly as the week goes on. It will “repay” your efforts.

Begin with the title itself, which lays out the extremely high stakes of the situation. Go into the way in which the article compares what the news media and imperialist politicians constantly hammer at us with the actual truth that BA goes into and lays bare. And then go from there into why this is going on, how to understand the driving forces beneath it, where the real interests of humanity lie, and what must be done, now, by all of us.

We are also posting this piece in pamphlet form. You can print this off yourself and get it around to people, or contact Revolution Books in New York for bulk orders.

We are posting as well three other new articles by BA. These are in pdf form so that they can be printed off and distributed to others. Do so. They get at important truths that people need right now, in a very accessible form. These articles are:

May 1 will mark the first significant outpouring in this country against the actions of the imperialist powers—and in this country, especially the U.S.—which are now putting the world in danger. May 1 will mark a day when revolutionaries will put forward the full scope of the problem and call on people to come forward and get organized. May 1 must impact far beyond its numbers.

To enable all that to happen, we’re also featuring posters for May 1 and a basic leaflet that people can use where they are. And if you are anywhere near New York or Los Angeles, we urge you to go to May 1—do your part to make this manifestation as strong and impactful as possible, and dig into the issues with revcoms and many others who will be there.

There are four other things we want to highlight in this issue. The first is “SOMETHING TERRIBLE, OR SOMETHING TRULY EMANCIPATING: Profound Crisis, Deepening Divisions, The Looming Possibility of Civil War—And The Revolution That Is Urgently Needed. A Necessary Foundation, A Basic Roadmap For This Revolution” (go here to listen to, or here to read this talk). This extremely important and timely work steps back to the main dynamics and clashes that are setting the stage during this period. BA draws out their direction and shows the very real dangers but also the potential within those dangers to “seize the time” for revolution; and he goes into what must be done to do that. As BA notes at the end of “‘Legit Gangsters’—Gangsters with Nuclear Weapons (Longer Version—The Fuller Picture)”:

As I have analyzed extensively in “Something Terrible, Or Something Truly Emancipating,” with what is going on in the world today, and with all the dangers and difficulties it will involve, this is one of those rare times when revolution, in this imperialist country itself, becomes more possible—and is all the more urgently needed.

The second is this week’s installment of a recent important interview with Bob Avakian, in which BA applies the new communism some of the most critical issues in the world today, and goes into how a revolutionary state in power, based on the Constitution for the New Socialist Republic in North America, authored by Bob Avakian, would approach and handle these problems. This week’s installment focuses on immigration.

Third is the dialogue between Sunsara Taylor and Andy Zee on the very important abortion rights battle. We want to remind our readers that the National Week of Actions to RISE UP 4 ABORTION RIGHTS May 8-14 has been called by Rise Up 4 Abortion Rights. And we also want to call on everyone reading this to not only watch The RNL—Revolution, Nothing Less!—Show on YouTube every week, from which we have taken this dialogue, but to also spread this show to others and help build its audience.

Finally, this week marks the 30th anniversary of the Los Angeles Rebellion. We’ve assembled a picture story on the course and significance of that rebellion. Get into this.

In addition, we are also posting a strong critique of a New York Times op-ed on the environment; a piece written against Rise Up 4 Abortion Rights’ actions in Kentucky, which is most notable for the replies in the comments section that we are including; and an important article on the truth about the so-called “Palestinian wave of terror” in Israel.
