If the millions of women who are shaking the world with their uprisings decide that enough is enough, and that humanity needs a fundamentally different world, and that they stand up as liberators of humanity from the capitalist system, the path to a truly liberating future will certainly be opened.
The experience of 47 years of religious rule in Iran shows that wherever religious fundamentalism prevails, severe patriarchy and aggressive misogyny will prevail. But the oppression of women also prevails in secular governments with undeniable intensity. So no woman should deceive herself! Any type of regime that rests on the same foundation of capitalism that is the foundation of the Islamic Republic, even if it is "secular" and promises women freedom, can never give up patriarchal relations and will undoubtedly pursue a policy of misogyny in various forms from the very beginning in order to consolidate its political power, keep people's thoughts backward, and create reactionary social cohesion. One should never fall into the naive illusion that the imperialists of the “West” have a plan to distribute Western prosperity and democracy in Iran! Look at what they did in Afghanistan and how they paved the way for the Taliban to regain power, so that they shamelessly prevent women from even becoming literate. Look at how the fascist Supreme Court of the United States of America, by abolishing the right to abortion, is aiming to enslave women. Nothing is more dangerous than horizons that recommend surrendering to the status quo, comparing “bad” conditions with “worse.” Especially in the times we are living through.
The great changes in the position of women are part of the great changes in human society. The driving forces of capitalism have brought the world to a crossroads. Humanity stands at a crossroads. Bob Avakian offers this analysis by examining the very dynamic driving forces of the imperialist capitalist system and the permanent and unstoppable changes it is creating in the world.
The current situation of women, the environmental catastrophe and nuclear war that could destroy all of human civilization, and finally the rise of fascist and identity-based ideologies and movements cannot be understood without this analysis. We cannot understand the disintegration and division in the most powerful government in the world, the U.S.
Most importantly, without Avakian's analysis, we cannot see and understand that in the midst of this accelerating and explosive situation, there is the possibility of a real revolution [in the U.S. and maybe other countries] to end all unnecessary human suffering, such as the oppressive relations that subordinate women and the differently gendered to men.
