The American Sociological Association (ASA) annual conference, taking place this year in Philadelphia on August 17-21, is the largest gathering of sociology students, professors, graduate students, and other sociologists in the country. This is a tremendous opportunity to reach thousands of students and intellectuals, some of whom are grappling with big social questions and problems, from every part of the country and even the world.

While those in attendance will overwhelmingly be “decent people,” who agonize over the direction of society and hate many of its injustices, and who will have many important truths and insights about all of this, it is also the case that when it comes to a scientific understanding of the nature of the capitalist-imperialist system, and the way out of all of this through real communist revolution, most of them, to be frank, don’t know shit and have their heads up their asses. Therefore, we revcoms are attending this conference to struggle sharply with people and jolt them awake, as part of repolarizing for revolution in this rare time when it has become more possible, and bringing forward a revolutionary people in their millions. AND WE ARE CALLING ON YOU TO JOIN US! 

In particular, we are calling on you to join us in taking out two important initiatives and campus tours: Sunsara Taylor’s “‘Woke’ Lunacy vs. Real Revolution” tour, and Raymond Lotta’s “You've Been Lied To! Communist Revolutions Were Liberating, ... The New Communist Revolution Will Be Far Better” tour. Among this section of students and intellectuals, two of the biggest chains that keep them tethered to this system, thinking and acting in ways that only reinforce its horrors, are “woke” identity politics cancel culture, and the “verdict” that communism was a horror. Through boldly promoting these two tours, and calling on students and professors to bring them to their campuses, we will be directly taking on both of these big obstacles to revolution. At the same time, we are aiming to widely spread We Are the Revcoms, We Need and We Demand a Whole New Way to Live, a Fundamentally Different System, and the Bob Avakian Interviews—bringing alive not only the urgency, but possibility, of making revolution in this time, when the rulers of this country are deeply divided and the Republi-fascists are on the march, as well as the liberating vision of a radically different society, as concentrated in the Constitution for the New Socialist Republic in North America. 

Come to Philly! Join our team that will be spreading the word about this revolution, and these two very exciting tours, aiming to get invitations to dozens of campuses in the fall. If you’ve never done something like this before, now’s the time to get involved and learn more as you go. And donate generously to this effort! We need lots of funds (and frequent flyer miles)—to get people to Philly, to print thousands of flyers and other materials, for large provocative displays, and other needs.
