I am writing in to strongly encourage you to very quickly reach out to all the organized forces you can about the call for millions to gather in DC, beginning November 5, with the aim of driving out the Trump fascist regime. This includes local Indivisible chapters, ICE rapid response networks and many other kinds of organizations and institutions. 

To help, I want to share some of the experience some of us had here about reaching out to, and working with, a range of different organizations and organizers. These are people and groups who—coming from different perspectives and strategies—want to STOP this Trump fascist nightmare. This means engaging people with the Call from RefuseFascism.org for November 5, to flood Washington, DC in mass sustained non-violent protest. Also, as a follower of the revolutionary leader Bob Avakian (BA), I've personally been sharing social media messages from BA, including especially the major new statement: The Time Is Urgently Upon Us Now—To Drive Out The Trump Fascist Regime!

We can't afford to be narrow or defensive—discounting people because they hold different views. Millions have been shaken by Trump fascism, including people in all these different organizations. Most of those acting are doing so because they are trying to save their country and the U.S. Constitution. While I am a revolutionary communist, and see that differently, we've worked shoulder-to-shoulder together while also discussing the biggest questions about the future and how humanity could be living. In times of extremes, you meet people who really are rising to their best. 

In going out to different protests and events, in addition to reaching people broadly, we have made it a point to reach the organizers—from immigrant rights coalitions, rapid response teams, lawyers’ groups, labor and religious rallies as well as events called by local city council people. We’ve also worked with people who are trying to bring the different organizations together. 

Recently, we’ve been working with people who are holding meetings to address the ways in which the resistance to Trump has been siloed and fractured. There have now been a couple meetings of people from different organizations, causes and trends—talking about what's needed, sharing experience and finding the ways to collaborate. Those of us who work with Refuse Fascism have been strongly advocating for November 5 while being inclusive of other forms of struggle. This has become more focused as the whole situation has accelerated and people are seeing the real dangers we face. 

People are coming from very different understandings of the fundamental problem, with different ultimate goals. But there's been a refreshing willingness to discuss differences and for people to lay out their larger goals while listening to and learning from each other—and coming back to the unity we need now. If this approach is persisted in, it could play a big role in changing the current very bad culture and enabling people to unite widely to do what has to be done urgently to drive out this regime. 

We revcoms have sought to apply and popularize this from BA's social media message @BobAvakianOfficial REVOLUTION #139: Yet more genocidal racism from Donald Trump!:

Many individuals, organizations and groups will have different views on what has given rise to this fascism, and what should replace it, and we revcoms (revolutionary communists) will continue to forthrightly put forward and argue for our views on this, and encourage others to similarly put forward their own perspectives. But this must take place in the context and atmosphere where we are all pulling together to overcome every obstacle—including “divide and conquer” schemes, from whatever source and in whatever guise—uniting all who can be united, in the millions and millions, to achieve the truly historic goal of driving out this fascist regime.

A recent gathering wrestled with how to act together on No Kings Day—addressing the many small local gatherings and the need for all this to coalesce in the largest show of strength possible in one place. Refuse Fascism's call for November 5 is being discussed and considered with some people arguing for and appreciating the substance of the analysis and the need for the massive popular rising that does not stop until Trump is removed called to begin in DC. There has been very productive thrashing through of the need for all to come together under a single demand that Trump has to go now. 

We've talked about building for, and reaching out widely, at October 18, No Kings Day 2.0. There's also been cross-fertilization with people from this coalition coming to Refuse Fascism meetings. This has both led to more creativity, people advocating for November 5 from their own perspective, and more certitude.

Of course, this is very fragile and new, but I do want to try to boil down some lessons from experience which can be helpful to others:

• Don't decide in advance who “isn't worth” reaching out to. Don't make assumptions about people or organizations. There is so much in flux, go to EVERYONE. If they are not interested, fine. Don't waste time chasing them, but DO circle back to those you know are paying attention even if they've not stepped in yet. Lots of people have been hoping we could get through this without disrupting or going outside the channels or forms of organizing people have been accustomed to. Many are working in institutions that are very tightly controlled by the Democratic Party, but as individuals they are quite concerned and open to talking either on or off the record. A significant section of these folks are coming to see as the limitations of some of what has become “conventional wisdom” and are throwing in with, or strongly considering November 5. This has to grow.
• Be ready to take on the rumors people have heard or the discomfort people have about being associated with communists, and the revcoms in particular. But don't be defensive about this! Refuse Fascism is an organization that includes people coming from all different perspectives, and the revcoms are proud to be part of this. We are up against a really bad culture where people "have heard bad things about the revcoms," but have never looked into what the revcoms and Bob Avakian are actually about! Don't get flustered or thrown if you encounter this. If you look at it objectively, it’s an opportunity to set the record straight about who the revcoms are, who Bob Avakian is and the breakthroughs concentrated in the new communism he’s brought forward, including the over 30 years’ worth of work that BA has been doing to analyze the rise of fascism in the U.S.! Challenge people's prejudices about what they've “heard” and are "supposed" to think. Take the offensive, raising and joining these questions which are often just beneath the surface. (I would encourage people to steep in and make use of the three-part series from Bob Avakian, Opposing the enemy within the fight to defeat Trump/MAGA fascism: this putrid culture, lies & slander (REVOLUTION #120-122) and Irresponsible opportunist distortions should not be allowed to sabotage the unity of the millions needed to drive out the Trump fascist regime (REVOLUTION #129).

Some people will want to know more about all this, and about why the attacks on BA and the revcoms are so virulent. Others will be less interested in this, wanting to focus on really uniting all who can be united. That’s okay, people can sort themselves out. But be prepared, and prepare others, for the ways this effort and the revcoms’ participation in it, may become a focal point of attack. Spread the Statement of Unity and Principles from RefuseFascism.org which sets terms for countering all the divide-and-conquer schemes. 

For those who do feel attracted to this but then shrink from what they understand because of social pressure not to work with revcoms, this clip from Sunsara Taylor provides a good approach. Notice how she struggles hard with calm confidence based on what’s true, what's in the interests of humanity and the stakes of the need to defeat this fascism through the mass sustained nonviolent protest of millions in DC, beginning November 5. 

In all this, it is very important to keep returning people to and wielding the call for November 5 itself. Many, many people can and must take it up as their own and in their own ways. Work with others to fill the great needs this call for DC requires and with people figuring out how to open new doors and capacity.

In his recent major statement, BA says: "The profound question with which all decent people are now confronted is: Will we rise together, in the millions, to do what urgently needs to be done, to drive out this Trump fascist regime that is a truly terrible scourge on humanity and a very serious threat to humanity’s future?" There is an urgent need and profound basis for everyone—all of us—to be part of filling this great need at this turning point for humanity.

Again, from that statement:

In these extraordinary times, things can change very rapidly, on a huge scale and with major impact. That can apply not only in very negative but also very positive ways: the repeated outpourings against this regime can be built on and then given the most powerful expression in the mobilization and convergence on DC, November 5, being called for by Refuse Fascism, with an open invitation to all who are outraged by Trump/MAGA fascism.

If this succeeds, it will be a truly historic achievement for humanity now, and something that will contribute in a profound way to the possibility for a far better world for future generations. 

And again, if millions are rallied to this Call for a massive, nonviolent but determined mobilization and convergence on Washington DC, November 5—there is a real possibility that this could succeed.

There is not a moment to waste.
