As Israeli Actions Take the Middle East to the Brink of Regional War and the Threat of Nuclear War Looms

U.S. Capitalism-Imperialism Bears Direct Responsibility

This past week Israel assassinated three top-level leaders of Hamas. As part of this, they killed the prominent Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh. Haniyeh was leading Hamas’s attempts to negotiate a ceasefire in Israel’s genocidal slaughter against Gaza. To top that off, Israel committed this crime in the capital of Iran, on the very day that the new president of Iran was being inaugurated. (Iran is the main ally of Hamas and the main regional competitor with Israel.) While the U.S. did not openly support this particular move, Biden did not condemn it, let alone move to cut off arms to Israel.

As an extremely dangerous new war looms—one that could get all out of control—there’s a lot of “who started it” bullshit and trying to fix blame everywhere but where it belongs going around. Here’s the truth that cuts through those lies and obfuscation: The most essential thing that you need to know is that without the financial, military and diplomatic support of the U.S., Israel would not even exist! We’re not just talking about the U.S. support in this war, but the 76 years of genocidal slaughter, forced mass exile, assassinations, and mass imprisonment visited on the Palestinian people ever since Israel was founded with American backing! Israel’s reason for being is not “justice for the Jewish victims of Hitler’s Holocaust,” but as a strategic outpost of U.S. capitalism-imperialism in a crucial region of the world.  

The Extreme Danger of the Present Situation

To return to the present situation, people in Israel are being told to prepare for war. Flights to Israel are being cancelled, and people there are stocking underground shelters. Many commentators say Israel’s actions make sense only in the context of provoking Iran into a war. Iran, for its part, is supported by China and Russia, which are also imperialist powers in their own right. And here’s a little-noted but extremely significant fact: Israel possesses between 100 and 200 nuclear weapons, and it is the only nuclear power in the Middle East. If war breaks out and Israel uses these nukes, it could very quickly lead to the extinction of humanity.

If any kind of larger war breaks out, the U.S.—and in particular Genocide Joe Biden and Cold-Blooded Kamala Harris—bears direct responsibility. They can talk ceasefire all they want, and Harris in particular can shed her phony crocodile tears for the Palestinian people, but they have backed Israel up throughout this whole genocidal onslaught. Their actions speak louder than words. And the Republi-fascists are right there with them, with Trump urging Israel to “get the job done” and the Congress—both Republi-fascist and Democrat—inviting the bloody-jawed Netan-Nazi to bellow a speech to the Congress.

Again, this whole thing comes from a system—the economic and political system of capitalism-imperialism, which requires these monsters to seek world domination and fight each other over who’s on top. It is this system that drives these imperialists to risk the extinction of humanity over, and over, again. ALLOWING THIS TO CONTINUE IS MADNESS!

Bob Avakian, the revolutionary leader and architect of the new communism, has said:

We, the people of the world, can no longer afford to allow these imperialists to continue to dominate the world and determine the destiny of humanity. They need to be overthrown as quickly as possible. And it is a scientific fact that we do not have to live this way.

Now is the time to get with this revolution and this revolutionary leader. 

There is literally not a moment to lose.
