EVERYWHERE…
There is an urgent need for this new synthesis [of communism] to be taken up, broadly, in this society and in the world as a whole: everywhere people are questioning why things are the way they are, and whether a different world is possible; everywhere people are talking about “revolution” but have no real understanding of what revolution means, no scientific approach to analyzing and dealing with what they are up against and what needs to be done; everywhere people are rising up in rebellion but are hemmed in, let down and left to the mercy of murderous oppressors, or misled onto paths which only reinforce, often with barbaric brutality, the enslaving chains of tradition; everywhere people need a way out of their desperate conditions, but do not see the source of their suffering and the path forward out of the darkness.
That is the overwhelming message of this issue of Revolution.
There is an urgency, a timeliness to that message from Bob Avakian (BA).
There is the sheer intensity of the crisis humanity faces around the world. To take just one dimension: read the article on the disastrous floods in Pakistan and its links to the accelerating dynamics across the planet. Then read the deep-going, fact-based takedown of the bill that the Democrats and their puppets in the climate movement now hail as some kind of historic advance. This article by Raymond Lotta and the Environmental Working Group goes deeply into this and situates it within this rare time when revolution could be possible.
We are also sharing this week the great news that the Revolutionary Communist Organization, Mexico (OCR), has published a book that applies the new synthesis of communism to lay out a deep analysis of Mexican society and begin to chart the way forward. We will post the entire English translation of that book here next week. Read this work then and join with us in thinking through how to help these comrades broaden the reach of this work to people in this country—both people from Mexico, as well as others.
Finally, if you are new to the site and you don’t know about Bob Avakian, check out Bob Avakian: A Radically Different Leader—A Whole New Framework for Human Emancipation. And if you are here because you’ve run into the controversy over BA, including some of the unprincipled attacks on him, go here for explanations of this controversy and here for a set of statements from a wide range of people talking about why they defend him and what they see as the stakes in this fight—including new ones posted this week.
A Moment to Prepare for Revolution
In the article on the environment in particular, the connections to what BA has analyzed as a rare time in which revolution could be made are drawn out. We urge you to read all the articles posted in a back-and-forth with the key documents on this site on actually transforming the world now, through actually making revolution, in this urgent period: most especially the Organizing for an Actual Revolution: 7 Key Points and the extremely important talk by Bob Avakian from which those points are drawn, Something Terrible, OR Something Truly Emancipating: Profound Crisis, Deepening Divisions, The Looming Possibility Of Civil War—And The Revolution That Is Urgently Needed, A Necessary Foundation, A Basic Roadmap For This Revolution.
Finally, we urge you to both tune into AND win others to watch The RNL—Revolution, Nothing Less!—Show on YouTube; once again, you can see the whole episode of this week’s show on this site and both review particular excerpts and read over Andy Zee’s commentary with which he framed the show.
And check in during the week to this site—we’ll be posting as the week goes on.
For there IS a “path forward out of the darkness”—and there is a time looming in which giant strides can be made on that path… through getting into this revolution and the leadership we have in Bob Avakian.
