Hope on a Scientific Basis

This past week the world was again in tumult and uproar. We saw further escalation of the extremely dangerous war in Ukraine, with the real and urgent threat of a possible nuclear war… we saw further upheaval in Iran, with the people refusing to be put down and people all over the world on Saturday marching in solidarity… and we saw the system offering nothing but BEB* as an answer to all this.

But the movement for revolution DOES have an answer, and this week we saw it “in living color.”

Last Thursday, The Revolution, Nothing Less! YouTube show announced—and gave a preview of—a unique three-part interview with Bob Avakian, (BA), the most important thinker and leader on the planet today. If you have not yet seen this, go right now to watch it.

Then watch it again. Put a comment on the bottom of the page with what you think, with how it provoked or challenged or inspired you. And, very important, give a donation to The RNL Show by becoming a Patreon or by donating here—a donation that will go to spreading this interview, and the show itself, to the thousands and then millions who are hungering for this kind of show but don’t know about it.

Listen to what the hosts Andy Zee and Sunsara Taylor tell you about the significance of the coming interviews, the importance of as many people as possible seeing these interviews, and how to approach reaching that potential audience.

Then, make a list of everyone you know and send them this preview. Let this interview with Bob Avakian provoke, challenge and inspire them. Ask them to call you or write you after they watch it and to make plans to watch the first full-length episode of this on November 3, to be followed with the second and third parts on November 10 and 17. If you are in a city where the revcoms are hosting a premiere or a watch party on November 3, make plans to go and help build it. If you are not, pull together your own watch party. Go to the special page with materials and guidance on how to get this interview in front of the eyes and ears of the people who need it.

And prepare to struggle—and struggle hard. It is unconscionable for people to turn away from watching the interview because they are scared it will challenge them to leave their comfort zone and actually change their lives… or because they don’t think revolution is possible… or because of bullshit about “I heard it’s a cult” or “I don’t follow leaders” or “I don’t want to listen to a white man”… NO! Call bullshit where needed and struggle with people to watch these interviews and honestly confront what’s being said. The situation is too serious for humanity.

The excerpt of the interview this past week centered on Ukraine. The full three-part interview itself ranges far and wide, all from the standpoint of hard-core revolution—nothing less and with all of BA’s heart and soul. You get the problem laid bare—AND you get the solution, the inspiring vision, and how to begin the hard work and struggle it will take to realize that vision.   

A second big thing in the past week was the statement from the Communist Party of Iran (Marxist-Leninist-Maoist), “People of the World: Take up the Cry of Revolution from Iran as Your Own!” This powerful and poetic message went out to thousands of people in cities around the world who were demonstrating on October 22 in support of the Iranian people’s struggle. The Communist Party of Iran (MLM) bases itself on the new communism Bob Avakian has brought forward—a framework that breaks with those elements of communism before now which were not fully scientific. Both of these works—the three-part interview with BA and the statement from the Iranian comrades—are struggling with how people think. You sometimes hear it said that nothing is more powerful than an idea whose time has come. There is a kernel of truth there—for in times of acute crises, ideas which correspond to “where things have to go” can grip the masses and, starting with just a handful, can topple empires… IF those who first take them up grasp them firmly, apply them and fight for them.

But in today’s world, in BA’s leadership and work, we have more than “an idea”—we have the scientific approach to probing, analyzing and understanding the truth of why things are the way are and how they can be changed. In short, the problem and the solution.

Listen: right now, things are posed more acutely in the U.S. than at any time in living memory. The climate crisis… the very immediate threat of global nuclear war… and the furious contention over how America will be ruled that reaches from the top to bottom of society… each of these pose an existential crisis. Bob Avakian has put forward a deep societal analysis and a whole roadmap for how these crises can be wrenched off their current horrific trajectory and we can actually get to a revolutionary emancipatory outcome.

But that will take work and it will take struggle to forge what is needed, and possible: a revolutionary people in their millions with at least hundreds of tested leaders. And these interviews are a major instrument, a major weapon in that struggle right now… an “idea,” in the fullest sense of the word, whose time has come and must be, by those of you who are reading this, made real.
