This week, the Trump fascist regime has continued to ramp up their vicious repressive onslaught against anyone who stands up to their regime.
1: Mahmoud Khalil Again Targeted for Imminent Deportation

Mahmoud Khalil, who became "enemy #1" for Trump's crackdown on pro-Palestinian protesters, is again facing deportation, even before the Supreme Court hears his case after a criminally speedy decision from an IN-Justice Department court. Khalil continues to be the “poster boy” for the Trump regime’s repression against immigrants to the U.S. As is the case with Khalil, the overwhelming majority of those detained and deported have not committed any crime.
Khalil had just graduated from Columbia University when he was arrested in March of 2025, held for months, and threatened with deportation—despite being a legal permanent resident married to a U.S. citizen. His “crime”? Peacefully expressing his political opinions and standing with the people of Gaza against the merciless genocide perpetrated by Israel, with the full support of the U.S. He mediated when Columbia and protesters clashed during demonstrations that rocked the university’s campus in 2024.
After a year of unsuccessfully fighting to have him deported, and in the face of the regime’s continued focus on immigration as one battering ram in consolidating fascism, Trump's fascist DOJ is now moving again to deport Khalil as fast as possible. The Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA), which is not part of the “independent” judiciary, ruled on April 9 that Khalil could be deported from the U.S., after the case was fast-tracked without explanation or justification. Khalil's lawyer said “In all my decades as an immigration lawyer, I have never seen such a baseless and politically motivated decision. The BIA’s decision has absolutely no support in the record, violates a federal court order, and we’ll be fighting it until the end.”
Mahmoud Khalil told Democracy Now!, “The Trump administration is trying everything in its power to come after me, to put the full weight of the government to actually make an example out of me. The U.S. government has not brought a shred of evidence that I broke any laws.”
What the REVCOM CORPS for the Emancipation of Humanity wrote in March of 2025 about Mahmoud’s ordeal is more true than ever: “If this is allowed to go down, it will be a leap on a road that is speeding toward all-out FASCISM.”
2: Trump's new National Counterterrorism Strategy Threatens to Crush Political Opposition Before Any Crime is Committed
The White House unveiled a new United States Counterterrorism Strategy on May 6 that openly identifies the “left-wing,” “Anti-Fascists,” “Anarchists” and “radically pro-transgender” who espouse their ideologies as threats equivalent to drug traffickers or Islamic fundamentalist groups like al Qaeda and ISIS. “Currently we face three major types of terror groups,” the Strategy says, listing “Narcoterrorists and Transnational Gangs,” “Legacy Islamist Terrorists,” and “Violent Left-Wing Extremists, including Anarchists and Anti-Fascists.”
Here's what it says:
In addition to cartels and Islamist terror groups, our national CT [counterterrorism] activities will also prioritize the rapid identification and neutralization of violent secular political groups whose ideology is anti-American, radically pro-transgender, and anarchist. We will use all the tools constitutionally available to us to map them at home, identify their membership, map their ties to international organizations like Antifa, and use law enforcement tools to cripple them operationally before they can maim or kill the innocent.”
In other words, this document says openly that the regime intends to track people, identify who they work with, and carry out police operations to cripple them—before any supposed "crime" is committed—in other words, pre-crimes, or thought crimes. The truth is that the FBI and other police agencies have been secretly carrying out many of these kinds of operations for decades, as was exposed when the FBI's CounterIntelligence Program—COINTELPRO—was uncovered in the 1960s. (See “American Crime Case #74: The FBI-Chicago Police Assassination of Fred Hampton,” “American Crime Case #42: COINTELPRO—The FBI Targets the Black Freedom Struggle, 1956-1971 and “American Crime Case #41: COINTELPRO—The FBI Targets the New Left, 1964-1971.”) But this fascist regime is not concerned with preserving even the pretense of following the rule of law, first amendment protections, or anything else.
On September 22, 2025, Trump issued an executive order titled “Designating Antifa As A Domestic Terrorist Organization.” On September 25, 2025, he signed “National Security Presidential Memorandum/NSPM-7: Countering Domestic Terrorism and Organized Political Violence.” In our analysis of these previous documents, we outlined how they amounted to a blueprint and a launch event for focusing the vast repressive power of the U.S. government on disrupting, dismantling or destroying all opposition to the fascist regime. (See: “Regime Launches “All-of-Government Effort to Dismantle” All Opposition to Fascism.”) This now-adopted United States Counterterrorism Strategy document appears to represent the official policy of this fascist regime.

The implications of all this are extremely serious, and a threat to everyone from all walks of life who dares to speak out, organize, or protest against this criminal fascist regime, its continually unfolding horrors, and the system that is responsible. In HUMANITY ON THE BRINK: A Forced March Into the Abyss, or Forging a Way Forward Out of the Madness? Bob Avakian provides important orientation toward these and other moves in the section “Dealing with repression:”
In relation to all this, there is the importance of confronting and moving to not only oppose but actually defeat the severe repression the Trump regime is threatening, and is moving rapidly to enforce—for example, with its targeting of so-called “antifa” as a dragnet and broad framework in which to go after anybody who is (as they say) “anti-capitalist,” “anti-Christian,” “anti-American,” taking supposedly “extreme positions” against deporting immigrants, and so on and so forth. It is only realistic and scientific to expect this repression to take leaps, and very likely in the near future. So it is necessary to be prepared, actively as well as ideologically in terms of orientation, to meet and defeat this repression, broadly mobilizing people in opposition to it, including people who have political disagreements with those targeted at any given time.
And through this fight, it is necessary to win more people, building up more organized forces, for the fight against Trump/MAGA fascism, in terms of the immediate situation, and for the fundamental goal of revolution—giving life to what we describe as the R/CR/More R phenomenon (that is, revolution and resistance against the system, met by the counter-revolution of the repression of the regime, and met in turn by calling forth more powerful resistance and building for revolution). This is going to be an extremely acute focus and front of the struggle against the Trump regime and for the possibility of something even more fundamental to change. So it is necessary, as I said, to be prepared both ideologically and practically, and to make this a mass question, and give life to the orientation of uniting all who can be united against this repression, regardless of even significant differences among those so united—but, at the same time, not allowing this, even as serious as it is likely to become, to cause people to panic and to backtrack on struggling against the regime and for more fundamental change.
