Welcome to REVOLUTION, revcom.us, where you learn about what’s happening in the world, why it’s happening, how these events relate to the interests of humanity… and what it all means for making revolution and emancipating humanity. This site grounds itself in and follows the leadership of Bob Avakian, the architect of the new communism. Bob Avakian, or BA, is a radically different kind of leader who’s brought forward a whole new framework for human emancipation. We feature his most recent works, and we enable you to also dig into what he’s written on many different burning questions and over a whole period of time (see BA’s Collected Works and The New Synthesis of Communism: Fundamental Orientation, Method and Approach, and Core Elements).
Right now, the main place for everyone to start is with BA’s recent interviews on The RNL—Revolution, Nothing Less! YouTube show, Up Close And Personal With Bob Avakian, Heart And Soul & Hard-Core For Revolution. If you are coming to this site for the first time, don’t miss these—go right to them, now. And if you’ve watched the interviews, make sure to watch again—they are so deep, with so many layers, and really do repay repeated watching. Also extremely important is Bob Avakian’s 2021 talk Something Terrible, Or Something Truly Emancipating: Profound Crisis, Deepening Divisions, The Looming Possibility Of Civil War—And The Revolution That Is Urgently Needed, A Necessary Foundation, A Basic Roadmap For This Revolution. At a time when people vibrate between despair and putting their hopes into criminals like Joe Biden and the Democratic Party, BA’s talk goes deeply into the full dimension of the horror we actually face—AND, more than that, shows the real possibility of hope within that, depending on what we do. As the title says, it provides the foundation for understanding and the road map with which to navigate what will be a tortuous course. This week we also continue to feature two newer pieces from BA: AMERICA: Truly a Model—of DEPRAVED RACIST GENOCIDE and Bob Avakian Responds to a Basic Youth: “Common Sense” Is Often Wrong. A Scientific Approach Shows Revolution Is Possible, Especially in This “Rare Time.”
Of tremendous importance this week have been dangerous new developments in the war in Ukraine. Check out U.S./NATO vs. Russia in Ukraine War: Planning and Preparing Dangerous Escalations, U.S/NATO, Russian Imperialists: Preparations for Wider, Bloodier and More Unpredictably Dangerous War Intensify, and Some Crucial Points on the War in Ukraine to get the latest and watch Bob Avakian on Biden, Putin & Xi Jinping: Imperialist Gangsters and the Need for Revolution! and read The War in Ukraine and the Interests of Humanity: A Scientific Revolutionary Approach vs. Harmful Confusion and Chauvinist Delusion to understand the real stakes, and dig into what must be the real terms of the ferocious debate that needs to go on.
We also continue to cover the outrage of three police murders that “welcomed” in the new year in Los Angeles. Go here to watch the recent segment on The RNL—Revolution, Nothing Less! YouTube show which goes deeply into this. And go here to read the statement on this from the Revolution Club in Los Angeles and here and here to dig deeper into the “whys” of horrors like this.
Also this week, Florida disqualified an Advanced Placement African American Studies class from being taught in that state’s high schools. We cover the news of this outrage, analyze some key points around this controversy, and provide you with the TikTok response from the revcoms that features Bob Avakian’s response to some of DeSantis’ fascist lies on this question.
Last week marked the 50th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court decision which recognized women’s constitutional right to abortion—a right that was ripped away by the fascist Trump-appointed Court this past June. Read (or watch) the revolutionary analysis and orientation from Sunsara Taylor, “Forced Motherhood Is Female Enslavement: Make Roe’s Reversal a Rallying Cry for Real Revolution!”; read the statement from RiseUp4Abortion Rights; and get into “Sights and Sounds” of this past weekend (some of which will be posted during the week to come).
The people of Iran continue in their battle for emancipation with the brutal Islamic theocratic regime there. Within that struggle, some forces are pushing the bankrupt and dangerous notion that “things were better” under the rule of the Shah—a highly repressive U.S. puppet, who was overthrown by the Iranian revolution in 1978-79 and eventually (through a complicated series of struggles) replaced by the current reactionary theocratic regime. This week we’re featuring a graphic piece from the Communist Party of Iran, Marxist-Leninist-Maoist, that exposes this dangerous lie and points to the fundamentally oppressive nature of both forms of rule.
At the beginning of 2023, the revcoms initiated an ambitious fund campaign to raise $100,000. We’ve raised over $60,000 of that, but there’s a critical last leg to go and only four weeks in which to do it. This week we’re posting FAQs for those people taking up this campaign, we’re posting ideas on seeking out and going to people from the middle class, and we’re sharing an experience from the Chicago Revolution Club. We’re also featuring an interview that Andy Zee did with Dr. Phil Rice on his experience in raising funds.
Finally, a few other critically important parts of the news: the destructive cycle of drought and flooding in California; the police murder of a protestor against the building of a new police “training center” in Atlanta; a recap of the important attempted fascist coup in Brazil; and the savage beating of a young Black man, who died from his injuries, by Memphis cops.
